I view teaching as a vital extension of my practice, a responsibility to engage with the next generation. These moments of exchange—whether in jury reviews, design lectures, or collaborative workshops—are where theory meets the reality of building.

The official invitation for my keynote address at REVA Rachana 2023, an exhibition of student works at REVA University with the theme of 'Women in Architecture'. It is an honor to be invited to share my journey and work with the next generation.

A moment of deep engagement with a student's project at the REVA exhibition. I always make time to understand the thought process behind the work and offer constructive reflections.

A moment of camaraderie with a fellow juror and batchmate on the steps of my alma mater, CEPT University. Returning to serve on a jury is an exciting experience, a chance to re engage with the place that shaped me.

About Academic Engagement & Speaking

When I participate as a juror or keynote speaker, I do not simply offer an aesthetic critique. I immerse myself in the institutional context and the specific project briefs, ensuring that the dialogue we have is rigorous, actionable, and pushes the student to critically defend their design decisions.

Bridging Practice and Pedagogy

Architecture is not just learned in a classroom; it is felt on the site. My academic engagements are driven by the belief that a jury or a lecture should be a catalyst for growth, not just a performance of judgment. Whether I am at CEPT, REVA, or a regional institute, I aim to create a space where students feel safe enough to take risks and challenged enough to deepen their inquiry.

How I Engage With Institutions

My approach varies based on the needs of the department, but it is always deeply connected to the realities of professional practice.

  • Design Juries: I treat reviews as a collaborative exercise. I study your design briefs and site constraints beforehand, allowing me to provide feedback that addresses the student's process, structural logic, and contextual responsiveness.
  • Keynote Lectures: Instead of general talks, I present case studies like Villa Soham or my community placemaking work with MapBee. These presentations are designed to spark questions about sustainability, adaptive reuse, and the social role of the architect.
  • Cross-Disciplinary Workshops: For festivals or seminars, I facilitate exercises that push students to use unconventional techniques—like model-making, collage, or sketching—to see beyond the surface level of their projects.

My Commitment to the Process

I treat every invitation as a fresh journey. I do not arrive with a pre-packaged deck. I prepare specifically for your semester themes, ensuring that my contributions align with the specific academic goals of your design studio. My goal is to ensure that when I leave, the students are left with more questions than answers—which, in my experience, is the most valuable outcome for any young architect.

Teaching is a sacred creative endeavor for me, not a side project. I work with students and universities to bridge the gap between academic theory and the complex, beautiful reality of site-based practice, ensuring that every engagement leaves a tangible impact.
