I view practice and pedagogy as a single, sacred creative endeavour. Here, I share my journey of guiding young architects to discover their own unique voices through hands-on engagement.

I believe the most profound architectural questions are not answered by a client's brief, but discovered through our own creative inquiry. Here, I am sharing reflections with first year students at Villa Soham, guiding them to see how design decisions, from a piece of furniture to the use of natural light, are where an architect's true voice emerges. This is the core of my mentoring philosophy: to move beyond the technical and find the poetry in the details.

A wonderful moment with first year students from BMS School of Architecture. We transformed our recently completed Villa Soham into a live case study, a classroom without walls. I believe that touching and experiencing a built space provides lessons that no textbook can offer. It is this direct communion with architecture that kindles a student's passion and understanding.

This piece, inspired by M.C. Escher, is a testament to pushing creative boundaries. During our Playfield 1SR workshop, I challenged Shreya, an intern, to move beyond her comfort zone. The result is this remarkable drawing that explores the labyrinthine quality of a space, a powerful achievement that shows the growth possible when we dare to experiment.

My studio is a space for continuous learning. Here I am with a group of visiting students from BMS, sharing insights right where the work happens. I treat interns and young architects as collaborators on real projects, ensuring they are immersed in the creative process from day one.

An indescribable feeling of coming full circle. Here I am being honored at the Melange Students festival by a group of talented architects who trained with me over the years. Seeing them thrive is the greatest reward of mentorship and reinforces my belief in nurturing the next generation of designers.

A quiet moment of reflection and dialogue with students. My role as a mentor is not to provide answers, but to ask questions and listen. It is in these conversations that we help each person discover their own way of seeing and making, finding what feels true for them.

This image from the Ashadeep school in rural Varanasi, illuminated by countless small flames, perfectly captures my belief. Education is the kindling of a flame, not the filling of a vessel. My goal is to ignite the creative spark within each student, a light that they will carry throughout their journey.

This short film offers a glimpse into my journey and the principles that guide my practice and my teaching. It speaks to the mentors who shaped me, the projects that defined my path, and my foundational belief in creating spaces that are living ecosystems, designed to foster connection and change.

About Featured

I believe the best lessons come from touching real buildings, not just from theory. For instance, I turned our recently completed project, Villa Soham, into a live case study where first-year students spent days sketching and dissecting the space. This is how we learn—not by being told what to do, but by experiencing the interplay of light, materials, and human movement in a real, breathing environment.

My studio in Sanjayanagar is a living classroom where learning never stops. I do not believe in internships that involve only technical drafting. Instead, I bring young architects and students into the thick of real projects. Whether you are working on a public art installation or a private holiday home, you are treated as a collaborator.

We regularly conduct intensive workshops like 'Playfield 1SR' to help you break out of rigid thinking. I often guide students to look at M.C. Escher or similar masters to understand spatial complexity before applying those concepts to their own designs. My goal is to help you build a narrative, not just a drawing.

My mentorship offerings are tailored to where you are in your journey:

  • Portfolio Strategy: We conduct a 90-minute deep dive into your work. I will help you identify gaps in your sketching and model-making, and critically, teach you how to move from technical representation to process-based storytelling.
  • Immersive Workshops: These are 5-to-7-day programmes held at my studio. We provide all materials and daily mentorship, focusing on spatial concepts and design voice. We conclude with an exhibition to simulate the pressure and clarity of an open jury.
  • Academic Engagement: I am available for jury panels, design reviews, and keynote lectures where I bring my own projects to discuss sustainable design and adaptive reuse in a real-world context.

If you are ready to challenge your assumptions and get your hands dirty, you will find a space here to define your own path.
