Movement should honor where your body is today. My classes blend chair yoga, adapted mat work, and somatic movement in a safe, community-focused space designed for all levels of mobility.

Movement should be accessible to every body. Here is a look at an adapted Surya Namaskar (Sun Salutation) I teach in my yoga sessions for seniors, designed to be gentle, safe, and effective for building flexibility and strength.

After finishing a session with my seniors group, I feel so grateful for the wisdom they share. This video explains how I structure my classes for older adults, blending gentle physical practice with connection and conversation.

A heartfelt invitation for seniors to join my online Saturday classes. We practice a combination of chair yoga, adapted Sivananda yoga, and even some happy dancing. You can gift a class to your parents or any elders you know.

About Yoga for Seniors

My sessions are not about flexibility tests. We focus on adapted Surya Namaskar and chair-based movements that honor how your body moves today. I keep groups intimate because I want to actually see you, offer real-time guidance on your form, and ensure you feel supported, not pushed, through every movement.

Aging does not mean stopping; it means shifting how we approach our practice. My classes are for anyone looking to maintain spinal health, increase range of motion, or simply find a space to breathe without the pressure of a traditional gym environment.

My Approach

I lean on somatic principles, which means we prioritize internal sensation over aesthetic perfection. If you are joining from my studios in Bengaluru (Shoonya Centre) or Jaipur (Yog Yug or Maah 間), we work in cozy, quiet spaces. If you are joining online, I make sure my verbal cues are clear and detailed so you never feel like you're missing out. We frequently use household props like cushions, sturdy books, or chairs to bridge the gap and make every movement accessible.

The 'Senior' Distinction

We often blend chair yoga with gentle Yin holds lasting 2 to 5 minutes. This is particularly helpful for deep tissue release and calming the nervous system. It is not just physical exercise; it is a social hour. We chat, we share, and occasionally we even do a little happy dancing. The goal is connection, not just correction.

Getting Started

Whether you are looking for private therapeutic guidance for injury rehabilitation or want to join the Saturday community group, we always start with a brief conversation about your specific pain points and mobility goals. You don't need a fancy setup—just comfy clothes and an open mind. Come as you are, and we will find the right shapes to suit you.

I’m Navya, and I don't believe in 'one size fits all' movement. I spend my weeks between filmmaking and yoga, and this practice is my anchor—I love sharing that quiet grounding with the elders in my community. We keep things light, real, and always at your own pace.
