About Self-Defense Workshops
Why I Teach Self-Defense
Facing your fears head-on is something I believe in. My workshops are about more than just fighting - it's about building the mental grit to handle tough situations. You don’t need any martial arts background. If you’re a total newbie, you’ll fit right in.
Who I Train
I run sessions for:
- Corporate teams who want practical safety tips and a break from desk stress
- Students in schools and colleges who need basic self-defense and confidence
I can do workshops at my Koramangala dojo or come to your place if that’s easier.
What You’ll Actually Learn
I keep it simple and real. You’ll get:
- Powerful strikes - punches and low kicks that work outside the dojo
- Solid defense - how to block, guard, and counter in one go
- Footwork and balance - moving right so you don’t get knocked over
How We Train
I use Kyokushin Karate basics, but I’m not strict about tradition. Expect:
- Pad and shield work for real-world self-defense techniques
- Partner drills so you’re not just hitting air
- Strength training (sometimes with tractor tires - haan, it’s tough but fun)
- Controlled sparring (kumite) to test yourself safely
It’s intense, sometimes exhausting, but you’ll walk out stronger in body and mind. Osu.

My Story
Osh. I’m Sensei Carvalho. Kyokushin Karate is my life, not just a sport. My teacher, Shihan Jennifer, taught me courage—her spirit is with us always. Our dojo in Bangalore is like a family, we train, we laugh, we support. Even outside the dojo, I try to keep my heart big—like feeding stray dogs during lockdown. Strong body, strong heart, both matter. Osu.
