Master Kata and Kihon: The Foundation of Kyokushin Karate
Precision is the hallmark of Kyokushin. Whether it is Tensho or Saifa, we build your martial arts journey from the ground up, perfecting every stance, block, and strike before moving forward.
This is the Tensho kata, which emphasizes soft, circular movements and controlled breathing. It is a perfect complement to the hard, linear techniques of other katas.
Practicing the Saifa kata outdoors. This form teaches how to fight opponents from four directions, combining powerful strikes with quick, evasive footwork.
Group practice of basic techniques in the dojo. Moving together as one unit builds discipline, rhythm, and a shared sense of purpose.
Tobi Geri, or jumping kick practice. We use simple tools like a chair to help students develop the height, control, and confidence needed for advanced acrobatic kicks.
About Kata & Kihon: The Foundation of Karate
At Raclo Dojo, we do not skip steps. You will spend your first few weeks mastering Kihon basics, such as stance and weight distribution, before attempting complex Kata. We use simple tools like chairs for high kicks and floor-based conditioning to ensure you are physically ready for the intensity of full-contact training. You need to be prepared for repetitive, monotonous drilling. It is not for everyone, but it is how we forge fighters.
In Kyokushin, Kihon and Kata are not just warm-ups. They are the language of your body. We teach you to breathe, move, and strike with intention.
Why We Focus on Foundations
Most students arrive wanting to spar immediately. That is a mistake. Without a solid Kihon foundation, the repetition of stances like Zenkutsu Dachi and basic blocks, you lack the structure required for full-contact Kumite. We break down these movements until they are instinct.
Our Kata Curriculum
We cover the traditional syllabus, from the circular, breath-focused Tensho to the explosive, directional movements of Saifa. In our Koramangala dojo, we train these forms to develop muscle memory and spatial awareness. You will learn to fight multiple imaginary opponents, refining your balance and power generation with every sequence.
Training Environment
Our sessions follow a traditional, no-frills approach. We train on EVA foam mats, barefoot, in a space designed for focus. Whether you are in our adult group classes or learning via our live online modules, the expectation is the same: discipline and intensity. We use old-school conditioning tools and simple household props to build strength and agility. If you are looking for a commercial fitness gym, this is not it. This is a dojo for those who want to understand the martial art, not just mimic the movements.
Ravi Carvalho
I am Sensei Carvalho, and I believe discipline is the only path to mastery. I have spent my life dedicated to the Kyokushin way, teaching students in Bangalore that true strength starts with the basics. If you are willing to put in the hard work, I will teach you the rest.
