Full-contact sparring requires a strong body and a disciplined mind. Here, you learn to control your power, block effectively, and test your technique against a real opponent in a safe, structured environment.

A typical Kumite session in our dojo. Students wear protective gear and engage in full-contact sparring to test their skills, defense, and fighting spirit.

Timing is everything in a fight. I drill my students on executing techniques simultaneously with their opponent, teaching them to react instantly and effectively. "Faster, faster, together."

In sparring, you must be ready to block, counter, and attack. I push my students to move past just receiving hits and to actively counter, using their face guard and footwork.

Pad work and sparring drills are essential for developing power and precision. I guide students through various combinations, ensuring they maintain their guard and move effectively.

An outdoor training session focusing on partner drills. Here, students practice distancing and timing for kicks in a more dynamic environment.

Practicing a front kick (Mae Geri) against a partner. This drill helps develop accuracy and power while learning to break through an opponent's guard.

About Adult Training: Full-Contact Sparring (Kumite)

We do not just throw punches; we train with intent. You will be required to wear standard protective gear, including head and shin guards, during every Kumite session. The goal is to build resilience and timing through controlled contact, not to cause injury, so we focus heavily on defensive posture and counter-attacking techniques.

Understanding Kyokushin Kumite

In our adult classes at Raclo Dojo in Koramangala, Kumite (sparring) is the application of everything you have learned in Kihon and Kata. It is full-contact, but it is not a brawl. We follow the Kyokushin philosophy: respect for the opponent, discipline, and constant improvement.

What to Expect

  • Safety First: You cannot learn if you are injured. We emphasize control. You will practice blocking, evading, and striking within a safe, supervised environment using full protective equipment.
  • Technical Focus: We drill specific scenarios, such as body hardening, low kicks (Gedan Mawashi Geri), and counter-attacks. You will learn to deliver power while moving, maintaining your guard, and managing your distance.
  • The Environment: We train in a traditional, non-AC dojo. It gets hot and physically demanding. This environment is intentional; it builds the stamina and mental fortitude required for real combat.

Who This Is For

This training is for anyone ready to test their limits. Whether you are a beginner looking to understand the fundamentals of sparring or an experienced karateka aiming to refine your technique, you will find a partner here. Every student is part of our family, and we push each other to be better every session. Osu.
