About Belt Grading & Tournaments
Belt grading is not a participation event. Whether you are testing for your next kyu belt or preparing for full-contact tournaments, you must demonstrate mastery of Kihon, Kata, and Kumite. If you are not ready, you will not pass. It is that simple.
Testing Your Spirit
In our Koramangala dojo, belt grading follows the strict standards of the International Budo Karate Organization (IBKO). We do not hand out promotions based on time spent. You must show that you have internalized the basics (Kihon) and the formal sequences (Kata) required for your level.
The Path to Full-Contact
Our tournament culture is built on the foundation of full-contact karate. We host events where fighters from different experience levels test their timing, endurance, and mental fortitude against real opponents. These are not just physical challenges. They are moments to see how you hold up when the pressure is high and your opponent is not holding back.
What to Expect
- Grading Standards: Each belt represents a new level of understanding. We look for precision in your stances, power in your strikes, and focus in your eyes.
- Tournaments: We organize local tournaments to give students the chance to apply what they learn in the dojo. It is a controlled environment, but it is real fighting.
- Preparation: Your training sessions, both in the dojo and at home, are your primary preparation. If you do not drill your combinations until they are muscle memory, you will not succeed on test day.
Training with us means accepting that you will be pushed. If you are looking for a place where you can earn your advancement through sweat and honest work, this is the place.

I am Sensei Carvalho, and I run the Raclo Dojo here in Koramangala. I teach Kyokushin because it builds a strong body and a strong heart. If you are ready to train hard and earn your place on the mat, I will guide you.
