Ground fighting requires control, patience, and mechanics. Whether you want to master takedowns or refine your guard game, we focus on what actually works on the mat.

A shot from our morning No-Gi BJJ class. Here, I'm controlling an opponent from the top position, a fundamental skill in grappling. These classes are open to all levels.

Ground and pound drills on a grappling dummy. In MMA, it's not just about getting to a dominant position, but knowing how to finish the fight from there.

Our BJJ team after a great training session. We have a mix of Gi and No-Gi practitioners, all learning and growing together on the mats.

A proud moment during my BJJ blue belt grading ceremony at the Institute of Jiu-Jitsu. The journey in martial arts is one of continuous learning and I'm grateful for my coaches and training partners.

Receiving my blue belt from my head coach. This was a significant milestone in my Jiu-Jitsu journey, a result of consistent training and dedication.

About this collection

We don't do air conditioning or fancy gimmicks. Our mats at the Hosa Road facility are built for sweat and consistent rolling. If you’re looking to build your guard game or master a single-leg takedown, come ready to put in the work on the floor.

At Sai MMA Academy, we treat Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) and wrestling as the essential ground game for any complete fighter. There are no shortcuts here. You spend time in the Gi to learn precise grips and leverage, and we switch to No-Gi training to focus on speed, transitions, and the reality of an MMA fight.

Our sessions cover the full spectrum. We drill wrestling takedowns to ensure you control where the fight happens, and we spend hours on the mat perfecting your guard, escapes, and submission setups. It is not just about learning a move, it is about 'rolling'—live sparring where you test those techniques against a resisting partner.

This environment is for anyone willing to put in the time. Whether you are training for a competition, looking for practical self-defense, or just wanting to get fit, the mechanics remain the same. We keep our groups mid-sized, typically 10 to 15 students, to ensure everyone gets feedback on their form.

If you have never grappled, do not worry about not knowing the basics. We all start somewhere. The mats at our Hosa Road facility see a mix of absolute beginners and experienced blue belts, all working to get better every day. If you want to refine your ground game, come down for a session and see how we work. Avvalothan.

I am Babu, and I believe the mat does not lie. I am a mechanical engineer by training, but I have built my life around grappling, from winning gold medals to earning my own BJJ blue belt. I teach because I want to pass on the discipline that kept me grounded.
