Mastering Jiu-Jitsu: Ground Control and Submission

Shrimping is the art of escape. I break down this essential Jiu-Jitsu movement, showing you how to create space and get out of bad positions.

About Jiu-Jitsu: The Ground Game
Don't expect to jump straight into live sparring on your first day. We start with the basics—shrimping, bridge escapes, and safe falling techniques. It might feel slow, but this is the foundation that keeps you injury-free and effective on the mat. You need these mechanics solid before you try to secure a mount or transition into a submission.
Jiu-Jitsu is the great equalizer. It does not care about your size or strength, only your ability to control space and use leverage. Whether you are aiming for competitive grappling or just want to understand how to hold your own, we focus on the mechanics that actually work. Our classes break down complex positions into drills you can repeat until they are reflexive. You will learn to survive in bottom positions, escape from mount, and apply pressure from side control. We mix gi and no-gi training because both offer unique challenges and lessons in friction and control.
Safety is non-negotiable. You will learn break falls early, ensuring that when things get scrambly, you know how to protect yourself. We keep the gym floor disciplined, so you aren't just rolling randomly; you are training with purpose. Need to know about the gear? Bring your own hand wraps. We have loaner gloves and shin guards for starters, but once you commit to the grind, you will want your own set of 14oz gloves and a mouthguard. We are in Kammanahalli—swing by for a session and see how you hold up under pressure.
