Outdoor Yoga Practice for Peace and Energy
Practicing under the open sky allows you to reconnect with the earth. Join me in Delhi's parks to find calm, breathe fresh air, and strengthen your body naturally.
Practicing a variation of Chakrasana (Wheel Pose) in a beautiful green park. Taking care of your body is the most important thing, and nature provides the perfect backdrop.
A deep backbend on the mat, with palm trees and blue sky in the background. This pose, a variation of forearm wheel, opens the heart and strengthens the entire body.
Holding Urdhva Dhanurasana (Wheel Pose) outdoors. Practicing under the open sky with birds flying overhead adds a sense of freedom and joy to the asana.
About Outdoor Yoga Practice
Practicing in a space like Lodhi Garden changes how you approach asanas. The uneven ground and open air force you to engage your core and balance muscles differently than you would in a climate-controlled studio. When we hold poses like Chakrasana (Wheel Pose) here, the connection to nature helps with deep backbends and opening the chest, making the practice feel more expansive and restorative.
Many people think yoga only happens on a studio mat, but the true test of your practice is being able to find your center anywhere. Outdoors, we lose the artificial stillness of four walls. You hear the birds, feel the breeze, and navigate the textures of the earth under your feet. This is exactly why I take my classes to parks across the city. It grounds the mind in a way that four walls cannot.
We focus heavily on Pranayama and mindful breathwork during these sessions because the oxygen quality is better and helps calm the nervous system. Whether you are working on mobility or simply trying to get out of the city's daily hustle, these sessions provide a much-needed reset. We use the park environment to deepen stretches, often modifying traditional alignment techniques to suit the natural terrain. If you are struggling with body stiffness, these sessions are particularly effective. We usually start with simple joint-freeing movements to warm up, move into strengthening asanas, and finish with a short period of grounding meditation. It is not about being a gymnast, it is about being human.
