Getting strong, the traditional way. I love using ancient Indian training tools like the Mudgar and Gada in the sandpit to build real, functional strength.

A few rounds of this workout with the Mudgar, and you'll feel like the Hulk. Each session explores different movements that challenge the body in new ways.

A Tagda Raho workout is serious business, but it's also filled with so much fun and play. This video shows some of the partner drills and challenges we do.

A kneeling double-hand pullback to Thor press with the Mudgar in the sandpit. Training on sand adds a whole new level of instability and challenge.

I got inspired to do my full routine in the sandpit, and it was a completely different feeling. You have to be so much more aware of your stability and balance.

A look into the benefits of a Tagda Raho workout. It goes beyond dumbbells, focusing on functional movements that cultivate a deep understanding of your body's biomechanics.

Get ripped with me at Tagda Raho. I'm challenging myself with heavier equipment to keep growing stronger. I already can't wait for the next session.

Dand, or Hindu push-ups, are one of the best ways to build strength for handstands. I'm loving the different variations I'm learning at Tagda Raho.

About this collection

Training on sand adds a layer of instability that standard gym floors just don't have. You have to actively engage your feet and core to stay stable, making every Mudgar swing or Hindu push-up feel completely different. It is not just about lifting weights. It is about connecting with your body mechanics in a raw, grounded environment.

Traditional strength training is not just about gym equipment. It is about how your body moves as one unit. My journey with Tagda Raho has been all about rediscovering that.

Why train in the sand?

Unlike a flat rubber or tile gym floor, training on sand creates a dynamic, uneven surface. Every movement, whether it is a Gada swing or a Dand (Hindu push-up), forces your stabilizing muscles to fire up instantly. You are not just moving weight. You are learning how to grip, balance, and stabilize from the ground up.

The tools I use:

  • Mudgar: These heavy clubs are excellent for shoulder mobility and core engagement. Swinging them builds grip strength and trains your body to manage momentum.
  • Gada: The mace training is incredible for rotational strength and back health. It is functional movement at its finest.
  • Dand: Simple, but effective. Variations of Hindu push-ups are my go-to for building the kind of upper body strength needed for handstands.

Is this for you?

Whether you are a total newbie or a seasoned athlete, these sessions are open. I personally love how it complements my yoga practice. It is Tagda (strong) work, but we make sure the atmosphere is fun and supportive. If you are looking to step out of the standard gym routine and try something rooted in heritage, come join me at the sandpit in Ulsoor.
