Tagda Raho: Traditional Indian Strength Training

Build functional strength and core stability using ancient Indian tools like the Gada and Mudgar. A barefoot, connection-first approach to fitness right here in Bengaluru.

I often get asked if you need to be strong to start this workout. The answer is no. We have weights as light as 1.8 kgs for beginners to master the skill before moving up. This workout is designed to build full-body strength, not just for your shoulders.

A typical day at a Tagda Raho session involves more than just upper body work. Our movements are designed to be functional, targeting different muscle groups, improving balance and coordination, and building powerful core strength.

The Trichakra is a beautiful movement that works the entire body in sync. It builds core stability and connects the anterior and posterior chains, translating directly to strength you can use in your daily activities.

The 12kg Mudgar swing is a game of patience and grace. It's about moving at your own pace, controlling the weight, and writing your own story of strength.

People talk about the shoulder benefits, but have you experienced a Tagda Raho leg day? We use the equipment in unique ways to target all your lower body muscles for a challenging and effective workout.

I had the incredible opportunity to coach the legendary Jonty Rhodes. It was a humbling experience to share this traditional Indian workout with him. Moments like these remind me why I love what I do.

Here I am guiding Jonty Rhodes through the basics of Mudgar training. My shirt says it all: Tagda Raho, Tagda Raho. It was an honor to be in the presence of such a humble and legendary athlete.

About this collection

You don't need to walk in here already strong. We have gear as light as 1.8kg, so you can master the technique first without pressure. We train barefoot on turf because it helps you feel grounded, making the Gada and Mudgar movements about full-body control rather than just lifting heavy. It is less about hitting a number and more about feeling how your body naturally moves.

More Than Just Shoulder Strength

I often hear people worry that these traditional tools—the Mudgar (clubs) and Gada (mace)—are only for building shoulder strength. That is far from the truth. While the swings do wonders for your joints, our sessions are designed to be full-body workouts. Whether we are practicing the Trichakra or working through a flow with the Mudgars, the movements target your core stability, lower body power, and proprioception.

Why We Train Barefoot

We train barefoot on purpose. Working out without shoes connects you directly to the ground, improving your balance and forcing your smaller stabilizing muscles to wake up. It feels more honest. It is raw, it is functional, and it translates directly to the strength you need in your daily life, not just inside the studio.

My Philosophy

Fitness for me is therapy. Some days I have a lot of energy, other days I don't. That is okay. My classes are a safe, non-competitive space where we show up for ourselves. Whether you are at our Victoria Layout studio, Sivanchetti Gardens, or our Domlur space, the goal is the same: to find your version of 'Tagda'—being fearless and strong, even when it is hard.

Is it for beginners?

Yes. We have a wide range of equipment. Beginners start small, focusing on the swing and the flow. We don't rush. We focus on consistency, and eventually, you build the strength to handle the heavier clubs. If you are curious about movement that makes you feel alive and connected, come drop by.

I'm Sheri, and for me, fitness isn't about the numbers on a scale. It's about moving in a way that feels honest, even on the days I'm not feeling my best. I started this space to bring the tradition of Gada and Mudgar training to everyone, focusing on resilience and simple, consistent movement.
