About Beginner Pottery Courses

You do not need prior experience to start here. Our beginner courses focus on the fundamentals—pinching, coiling, slab work, or wheel throwing—in small batches of six participants. We handle all the technical prep work, including firing and glazing, so you can spend your session learning the rhythm of the clay without worrying about the logistics.

Your Pottery Journey at GOAK

When you join one of our beginner courses in Indiranagar, you are not just watching a demo; you are getting your hands in the mud. I designed these sessions to be project-based, so you actually walk away with finished, functional pieces like mugs, planters, or bowls that you can use at home.

What to Expect

  • Small Batches: We cap our classes at six people to ensure I can provide individual attention. Whether you are centering clay on the wheel or learning joinery techniques, you will get the help you need to get it right.
  • All-Inclusive: We provide everything—clay, aprons, tools, and firing. You just need to show up ready to learn.
  • The Post-Production Phase: Pottery is a slow process. After you sculpt your piece, the studio team handles the trimming, slow drying, and the two-stage kiln firing process. This ensures your creations are food-safe and durable. Your pieces are typically ready for collection in three to four weeks.

Handbuilding vs. Wheel Throwing

We offer distinct streams for beginners. Handbuilding is perfect for those who want to explore sculpting, texturing, and structural building without the pressure of the wheel. If you want to learn the physics of centrifugal force, our wheel throwing modules will teach you how to prepare clay, center it, and pull cylinders.

Why Beginners Choose Us

Most people who walk into the studio have never touched clay before. My goal is to make the studio feel more like a creative hangout than a classroom. We share 'jugaad' tricks and studio hacks that make the learning curve manageable and fun. If you are looking for a weekend hobby in Bengaluru that gets you away from screens and into a tactile rhythm, this is it.

I started GOAK Ceramics in a tiny room, and it has grown into a space where people come to get messy and find their rhythm. I keep our batches tiny because I want to actually help you get those cylinders right, not just watch from the sidelines.
