Meet Gauri Oak and our pottery community
GOAK Ceramics is more than just a studio. It is a space where we learn, get our hands messy, and build a creative family right here in Indiranagar.
It's been a while, so I wanted to introduce myself again. I'm Gauri Oak, and this is my studio, GOAK Ceramics. I'm so proud of the thriving, kind community we've built here.
A photo of me at the wheel, in my element. My goal this year is to put more of my own work out there while continuing to nurture our wonderful studio community.
A duplicate of image 44. A happy shot of me in the studio, holding a ball of clay. This is my happy place, and I love sharing it with others.
A photo of me sitting at our main work table. After teaching over 100 students, the community we've built is what makes me swell with happiness and pride.
A photo from a recent trip. This year has been about finding balance, spending time with loved ones, and feeling grateful for the community at the studio.
A shot of me focused on centering clay on the wheel. This is where it all begins. My personal goal is to keep learning, stay fit, and be a better listener.
Another photo of me at the wheel. I believe in being open with my work and my journey, and I'm even learning Japanese this year to keep growing.
A duplicate of image 60. This photo captures me doing what I love most, working with clay. I'm excited about two new collections I'm currently working on.
About Meet Me & The Community
When you walk into my Indiranagar studio, you are not just joining a class. You are becoming part of a community that has been growing for two years. Whether you are here for a one-off Clay Date or a deeper dive into wheel throwing, I keep batches small—six people max. This lets me give you individual attention, help you with those tricky handle proportions, and make sure your pieces actually survive the kiln process.
More Than Just Clay
I started GOAK Ceramics with a tiny room and a few wheels, but it quickly became about the people. Over the past two years, I have taught over 100 students, and watching those relationships grow is what makes me swell with pride.
Why the Community Approach Works
- Small Batches: By capping workshops at six people, I ensure I can actually help you. You get hands-on guidance, whether you are trying to center clay on the wheel or learning slab techniques.
- Supportive Environment: We are not about perfect results. We are about the process. Whether you are here for a solo unwind, a date, or to meet new people, you will find a space that feels more like a creative hangout than a classroom.
- Real Learning: I do not believe in gatekeeping. I love sharing the 'jugaad' tricks I have learned over the years. We talk about the nitty-gritty of pottery math, handle proportions, and how to troubleshoot common mistakes so you learn the real craft.
Join Us
Whether you are a beginner looking to try your hand at a one-day session or someone ready to commit to a multi-session course, there is a place for you here. We handle all the technical parts—the trimming, the firing, and the glazing—so you can focus on the fun stuff. Come by, get your hands muddy, and let’s make something beautiful together.
Gauri Oak
Hi, I am Gauri Oak. I started GOAK Ceramics to share the joy of clay, but the community we have built—students, friends, and fellow makers—is the real heart of the space.
