About Movement Journal: Expressive & Contemporary
I do not teach rigid choreography. My practice is rooted in Butoh and somatic improvisation, which means we work with imagery, instinct, and your natural rhythm rather than just learning steps. If you join me at my Bengaluru studio, we use tools like masks, wooden logs, and theatrical lighting to help you land fully in your body, whether you are a complete beginner or looking to deepen your existing practice.
Movement is how I breathe. When words fail, the body carries the weight of the day, and that is exactly what this journal documents. My approach in the studio is not about performance. It is about presence.
My Philosophy
My background is a tapestry of Kathak, Flamenco, and physical theatre, but Butoh remains my core. It is art that comes from the inside, raw and unpolished. My 1-on-1 coaching sessions are built on this foundation. We do not just move; we audit your energy. We look at posture through a somatic lens to find where you are holding tension and where you can release it.

- Somatic Awareness: Understanding how your body holds stress and learning to move through it.
- Technique Correction: Hands-on adjustments to alignment, mixed with the fluidity of modern dance.
