Training in a gym is safe, but the real world is unpredictable. Every Sunday, we head to Powai Forest Park to test our martial arts skills on natural terrain. Whether you are interested in Kali, Krav Maga, or just finding your focus, come train in nature with us.

Training in the forest is a different experience. It connects you with nature and teaches you to be aware of your surroundings. This is what I call forest bathing, or Shinrin-yoku.

We use the natural environment to our advantage. Here, students practice stances and movements with sticks, learning to become their own bodyguards.

The sharpness of the sword is in the hand of the warrior. Our sticks get worn out from training, but our skills get sharper. This is our Sunday morning training at Powai.

About Train Anywhere: Forest & Outdoor Sessions

Training on uneven ground under the trees changes your perspective. You are not just memorizing moves on a rubber mat; you are learning to adapt to the real world. If you can move, spar, and strike effectively in the forest, you are far better prepared for the unpredictable situations life throws at you. This is about building the awareness and stability that a standard gym simply cannot replicate.

Why We Train in Nature

Martial arts is often confined to a dojo, but conflict does not happen in a controlled, flat environment. By training at Powai Forest Park, we introduce elements of 'Shinrin-yoku' (forest bathing), where the natural surroundings help sharpen your focus and reduce stress. More importantly, the uneven terrain forces you to develop better balance, core strength, and situational awareness.

The Shinkali Approach

Our Sunday sessions are not just light workouts. We actively practice our hybrid system which includes:

  • Shinkali & Kali: We use rattan sticks to learn distance, timing, and weapon mechanics in an open space, which is critical for understanding defensive reach.
  • Krav Maga & Jujutsu: We adapt close-combat grappling and striking techniques to function on soil and uneven paths, ensuring you are not reliant on perfect floor conditions.
  • Stress-Testing: Training in public spaces improves your comfort level and ability to remain calm while others are around, which is a key component of self-defense.

Who This Is For

Many people assume outdoor training is only for high-level athletes. That is not true. Whether you are 18 or 80, the forest offers a forgiving, low-pressure environment to learn at your own pace. I create a plan that fits your current ability. You will leave the session feeling stronger, more grounded, and genuinely capable of protecting yourself.
