About Live Tabla Performance
Where Rhythm Feels Like Home
Tabla isn’t just my job, it’s my sadhana. I play in the Farukhabad gharana style, carrying forward the legacy of my Guruji, Pandit Subhankar Banerjee. Every time my fingers hit the drum, it’s a tribute - not just to him, but to all the legends I grew up listening to. Sometimes, the beats get so personal, it feels like I’m talking to the drum and it’s talking back.
What You’ll Hear
- Farukhabad tabla tradition shines through every note. Expect clean strokes, plenty of classic compositions, and a bit of surprise with rare pieces my Guruji taught me.
- I perform tabla solo recitals where the instrument speaks for itself, full of improvisation and energy.
- As an accompanist, I support vocalists, sitar, sarod, violin, santoor, and even sync with Kathak dancers. It’s all about creating a musical conversation.
- Been part of big concerts (Malhar Festival, India by the Bay), played at venues like Kamani Auditorium and G.D. Birla Sabhaghar, and recorded for Akashvani Kolkata. Small baithaks (intimate gatherings) and corporate events also have a special vibe for me.
Why I Love It
The best part? Sharing the stage with incredible artists (dadas and didis) and catching those moments when the whole crowd feels the groove. Sometimes, the rhythms even pick up a bit of Bengal’s festival flavour. Dhin dhin dha... that’s my world.

My Story
Never thought I'd write this much, but that last trip hit different. Grew up in a middle-class home, holidays were like, out of syllabus. Used to dream of just chilling somewhere, no tabla, no worries. Life got busy, dreams took a backseat, only work and gigs. Thanks to one special person, I finally paused, took a breath. Now, when I'm not drumming, I'm a proud dog dad—sometimes trying (and failing!) to play Dhaak at Durga Pujo. Pujo vibe is unbeatable, maa kasam (I swear)!
My Work
Tabla Performance & Education - I play tabla for concerts, recordings, solo gigs, and teach—love passing on my Farukhabad Gharana style.
Rooted in Farukhabad Gharana - My guru was Pandit Shubhankar Banerjee. I honour him by sharing his music and compositions.
Collaboration in Classical & Fusion - Playing with vocalists, dancers, and fellow musicians—whether duet or fusion—always makes the music special.
Kathak Tabla Accompaniment - Recently started performing with Kathak dancers. It’s a new rhythm world, and I’m loving the challenge.
Music as Devotion - For me, every tabla solo concert or private event is a spiritual journey. I try to play with heart and soul.
