A glimpse into the Color Ashram space in Mysore. We are a place to connect with yourself, others, and nature while learning and having fun with colors made from plants and minerals.

A visitor shares her experience at Color Ashram, a place where "nature hugged me, colors smiled at me." She highlights our role as a launchpad for startups and a center for sustainable dyeing.

Our co-founder Namrata enjoys a conversation with two artists and educators over coffee. Our ashram is a space for serendipitous meetings and the convergence of like-minded, creative women.

A candid shot of a conversation at our outdoor cafe table, with naturally dyed yellow fabrics hanging to dry in the background. We cherish these moments of connection and shared ideas.

An artist and engineer from Mysore shares her excitement after her first visit. She was thrilled to find a local academy promoting natural dyeing and is eager to come back for a course.

About this collection

Walking into our studio, you will see a mix of serious fiber science and casual creativity. You might find a design student testing natural pigments in the lab, while at the next table, a local visitor is trying block printing for the first time. It is a working space that relies on honesty and shared learning rather than polished, exclusionary gatekeeping.

Our studio in the Hebbal Industrial Area is designed to be more than just a classroom. It is a hub for anyone curious about sustainable textiles.

The Lab and Studio

We treat our space as a living experiment. You will see standardized natural dye vats where we tinker with microbial dyes, alongside rows of hand-carved wooden blocks for printing. Whether you are here for an intensive masterclass or just dropping in to see how we manage zero-toxin recipes, the studio is open for you to witness the process.

A Community of Makers

What defines the ashram is the mix of people. We host local Mysore artists, travelers from across the globe, homeschooling families, and NID design students. You might catch a Playback Theatre session in our cafe area or find a group discussing climate-friendly fashion over herbal tea. It is a place where we prioritize real conversations over structured networking.

Visit Us

We encourage you to come by, not just to look, but to engage. If you want to understand how we transition traditional dyeing to natural methods, or if you simply want to see the vibrant, plant-dyed fabrics hanging to dry, drop us a message. We are here Monday through Saturday, ready to share our passion for color.

I'm Namrata. Arun and I started this space because we wanted a place where the doors stay open and hands stay busy with earth-friendly dyes. When you visit our ashram, you are not just a guest, you are part of our ongoing experiment to clean up fashion, one color at a time.
