About Core Dharma Teachings & Weekend Courses
Most of our weekend teachings are hybrid, meaning you can join us at our Domlur centre or connect via Zoom if you are traveling or based elsewhere. We keep these sessions practical rather than purely academic, focusing on how to apply Buddhist philosophy like Karma and impermanence to your everyday challenges. You generally do not need to register for our drop-in Sunday sessions; simply check our WhatsApp community group for the link and join whenever you can.
Our curriculum is designed to guide practitioners through the stages of the path, known as Lamrim. These teachings are led by experienced monks from Sera Jey Monastic University and are open to everyone, whether you are a dedicated Buddhist or simply curious about meditation and philosophy.
The Learning Path
We break down complex topics into accessible modules like "Discovering Buddhism" or "The Happiness Series." We alternate between in-depth philosophy and practical application. Some weekends focus on ancient texts like the Bodhisattva Jewel Garland, while others address modern anxieties through mindfulness of breath and body.
Building Community
Our Sangha is a Dharma Family. It is not just about listening to a lecture; it is about contemplation and discussion. We often follow sessions with community tea or lunch, providing a space to connect with the teachers and fellow students. These informal gatherings are where the teachings often find their real-world context.
Accessibility and Participation
We believe the Dharma should be accessible to all. While we offer registered courses for those looking to commit to a specific series, many of our Sunday morning sessions are open-access. We encourage you to bring your own meditation cushion for in-person sessions at Domlur, though we provide seating if you need it. If you are joining online, ensure you are part of our WhatsApp community to receive the latest Zoom links and schedule updates. We run entirely on the generosity of our students; while some programs have suggested donations to sustain center operations, your presence is the most important offering.
