About this collection
Volunteering at our centre or joining a mindful walk at Cubbon Park isn't just about participating in an event. We view these as acts of service and practice that help build our community. Whether you have an hour to help with a pre-festival clean-up or want to spend a Sunday morning breathing in nature with us, your presence is the most valuable contribution.
At Choe Khor Sum Ling, we believe that spiritual practice extends far beyond the cushion. Our community life is built on the simple idea of showing up for each other and the Dharma.
Mindful Nature Walks
We host regular mindful walking sessions at Cubbon Park, usually on Sunday mornings. These aren't strenuous hikes but gentle, guided sessions where we combine meditation with appreciating the environment. It is a practical way to ground yourself in the middle of Bangalore's busy streets, allowing you to carry a sense of peace back into your week.
Service as Practice
We often invite our community to help with the upkeep of our Domlur centre. From cleaning the space before a major festival like Losar to organizing our altar, we treat these tasks as 'joyful service.' This is not just about logistics or maintenance; in our tradition, cleaning a sacred space is seen as a way to clear obstacles and accumulate merit. It is also the best time to chat with long-time practitioners and connect with fellow students in a relaxed setting.
Shared Learning
Beyond formal teachings, we run programs designed to make Buddhist concepts tangible. This includes senior-led workshops on setting up an altar at home, film screenings, and special sessions for children. We believe in transparency and accessibility—most of these activities are free, and we welcome anyone curious about our path to join. We rely on the generosity of our supporters, but there is never any pressure to contribute; your interest and presence are what sustain our Dharma family.
Choe Khor Sum Ling
At CKSL, we believe the Dharma path is walked better together. Our centre in Domlur is a home where we learn, support one another, and find a bit of quiet in the noise of Bangalore. We are just a group of friends trying to make sense of things through Buddhist wisdom, and there is always a seat for you here.
