Ladakh High-Altitude Yoga Retreats
The thin air of Ladakh offers a unique stillness. In these retreats, we use the majestic mountain landscape to ground our practice, finding deep silence within the high-altitude desert.
Day 2 of our Ladakh Retreat. Exploring the raw, beautiful landscapes on foot is a form of moving meditation, connecting us deeply with this powerful land.
About Ladakh: High-Altitude Stillness
Practicing yoga at high altitudes demands that we listen to our breath more closely than in a studio setting. In Ladakh, we prioritize gentle acclimatization before we move into our deeper asanas, ensuring that your body finds stability in the thin air rather than strain.
At 11,000 feet and above, the distractions of city life simply vanish. My 10-day Ladakh retreats are designed for those who want to deepen their practice far from the usual studio setting. We combine morning energizing flows with evening restorative or Yin yoga, specifically sequenced to aid trek recovery and support your body as it adjusts to the elevation.
We keep our group sizes small, usually 10 to 15 participants, allowing for personal attention during our technique correction sessions. Transportation is managed through private SUVs to ensure comfort while we navigate the rugged terrain. This is not just a trip; it is an Abhyas (practice) that extends beyond the mat. We integrate daily meditation with curated nature walks, treating the entire landscape as our shala. You will need to arrive a day early to acclimatize, and we prioritize Sattvic nutrition throughout the stay to keep energy levels consistent. If you are a runner, trekker, or someone looking to build core strength in a new environment, this journey offers the space to reconnect with your breath.
