Bangalore Club: Reimagining Heritage Wellness Spaces
We reimagined the wellness and transition suites of Bengaluru’s historic Bangalore Club, blending colonial legacy with modern, high-performance interior design.

About Bangalore Club: A Modern Heritage Renovation
When working within a landmark like the Bangalore Club, our design approach demands a delicate balance. We prioritized integrating modern wellness technology, such as LUNOS high-efficiency ventilation and sensor-flush valves, without disrupting the site's colonial aesthetic. By pairing timeless Colonial Gold stone with classic dado tiling, we ensured the new washrooms and transition areas feel perfectly at home within the club's existing heritage architecture.
Restoring spaces with historical significance requires moving beyond simple renovation; it involves a conversation between the past and the future. Our work at the Bangalore Club centered on the transition and wellness suites, areas that are functionally intensive but visually demanding.
The Modern Heritage Approach
We didn’t want to sanitize the space. Instead, we leaned into the colonial character, using warm wood accents, arched mirrors, and specific PVC beading to echo the club’s established aesthetic. This was balanced with clean, functional interventions:
- Ventilation & Wellness: Installing LUNOS decentralized ventilation systems ensures the gents’ suite remains fresh without cluttering the visual flow.
- Materiality: We selected Colonial Gold stone for vanities and partitions—a choice that offers the durability required for high-traffic club use while providing a warm, stone-clad finish that complements the heritage theme.
- Lighting: Layering traditional chandeliers with discreet LED profile lighting achieves a dual goal: creating a nostalgic atmosphere while ensuring the washrooms remain practical.
The success of this project lies in how it handles movement and utility. From the ladies’ washroom with its serene beige tiling to the gents' changing area with its U-shaped layout for maximum storage, every decision was made to enhance the member experience while keeping the 'bones' of the building intact. Whether you are managing a heritage property or looking to integrate modern facilities into a classic structure, we approach every square foot with the same obsession for detail.
