Restoring Soulful Heritage Homes in Bengaluru
I specialize in the adaptive reuse of heritage buildings, preserving their unique character while modernizing them for contemporary comfort.
The interior of a traditional home during restoration, showcasing the original exposed wooden rafters and intricately carved wall panels. My goal is to protect and highlight these irreplaceable heritage details.
The restoration process in action. Here, a new brick wall is being integrated with the traditional wooden pillar and tiled roof structure, blending old and new materials with care.

About Restoring Soulful Spaces
Restoring an old home involves more than just aesthetics. I focus on the structural integrity of timber pillars and Mangalore tiles first. When I work on these spaces, I add steel jacketing or I-beams where necessary so your home keeps its character without compromising on modern safety.
Adaptive reuse is about balancing the history of a building with the needs of a modern household. My process begins with a deep assessment of the existing structure. I look for ways to retain the sloping roofs and wooden rafters that give these homes their identity.
If the foundation needs reinforcement, I use jacketing for old columns or introduce I-beams to allow for open, airy layouts. For infrastructure, I replace old GI piping with modern CPVC or PVC lines and rewire the entire electrical framework to safely handle today’s load requirements.
Restoration is not just about repairs. It is about bringing the building up to speed while keeping its soul intact. Whether it is scraping and polishing existing timber pillars or re-plastering walls with breathable lime plaster, every decision follows the principle that less is more. I treat the materials with respect, ensuring that new interventions like renovated bathrooms or modern kitchens feel like a natural extension of the original design rather than a forced addition.
