Foundation & Hatha Yoga Classes in Mumbai
Whether you are stepping onto the mat for the first time or looking to refine your basics, my foundation batches focus on building a sustainable, injury-free practice at your own pace.
Practice under the guidance of a teacher. Here, I'm showing a student how to use a belt for a deep lateral bend in a workshop. Props are our friends in the journey.
Explaining how to use a chair and block to practice Utthita Parsvakonasana. Using props helps to understand the alignment and get the full benefit of the pose.
Demonstrating Natarajasana (Dancer's Pose) with the help of a chair. This is a great way to work on your balance and backbend without pressure.
Another angle of the chair-assisted Natarajasana. The chair provides stability, allowing you to focus on opening the shoulder and quadriceps.
Using a chair for support in Natarajasana helps to build confidence and muscle memory for the full expression of the pose.

Practice should be joyful. Here I am showing a variation of Natarajasana with a chair, which is accessible for many levels.
Slow is fast in yoga. This video shows a slow, mindful transition from standing to a kneeling position, focusing on control and awareness, which is the core of Hatha yoga.
Mobility and flexibility are important for any physical activity. Here are some simple warm-up and cool-down exercises like the elephant walk that we do in our classes.
Practice is like watering a plant every day. This video shows a gentle flow sequence, perfect for beginners or for a day when you want to take it easy.
About Start Your Journey: Foundation & Hatha Yoga
In my Abhyasa batches, we treat yoga as a lifelong practice, not a quick fix. You will learn to use props like belts, blocks, and chairs to master alignment safely, focusing on the basics of Hatha and Vinyasa to build a strong foundation. Whether you are in our Andheri or Malad studios or joining live on Zoom, the goal is simple—progressing at your own speed with guidance that respects your body's limits.
Yoga is a practice of consistency, not intensity. I designed the Abhyasa batches specifically for those who want to understand the 'why' behind the poses. We move away from the pressure of perfection and focus on alignment, breath control, and mobility.
Why Props Are Your Best Friend
Many people think props are only for beginners. In reality, they are tools to help you find space and safety in a pose. Whether it is using a belt for a deeper lateral bend or a chair for stability in backbends, props allow you to hold postures longer and understand how your muscles should engage.
What You Can Expect
- Structured Cycles: We run monthly batches where we break down postures step-by-step. You won't feel rushed.
- Real-Time Guidance: If you are online, I monitor your form via Zoom to give you verbal cues. If you are in the studio, you get hands-on adjustments to correct alignment.
- A Focus on Longevity: We spend time on warm-ups like elephant walks and controlled transitions, ensuring your joints and muscles are ready before we go into deeper work.
A Sustainable Practice
It is okay if your practice looks different every day. Some days you will feel light, others heavy. My classes are a safe space to explore that. We focus on the 'slow is fast' philosophy—taking your time to get the foundation right so that, eventually, your body moves naturally into more complex postures. This is how you build a practice that supports you for years, not just a few months.
