Bharatanatyam Performances and Professional Training
From the stage to the studio, this is a look into my journey with Bharatanatyam, my workshops, and the students who make every session worth it.
This is a moment from a recent concert in Pune. For me, performance is the culmination of years of practice, a space where technique and emotion come together to tell a story.
A glimpse into a dance intensive at Punyah Abhayashaala. My focus in workshops is always on the details, breaking down complex movements and ensuring every student understands the mechanics and the feeling behind the form.
Witnessing a student's Arangetram, their debut solo performance, is one of the most fulfilling experiences as a teacher. This is from Akshadha’s performance, a culmination of her dedicated training and hard work.
We open admissions for Antarshaala, our regular classes at Upadhye School of Dance, for a limited time each year. This is an invitation to join our community of dedicated learners in Bangalore.
Performing the TANA Varnam in Behag. This piece is a beautiful challenge, demanding both stamina for the pure dance sequences and deep expressiveness for the storytelling parts.
Dance is not just for the stage. Here, I am finding a moment of connection with the art form by the Elbow River in Calgary during my Canada tour, inspired by the beautiful fall colours.
An impromptu Abhinaya session during the Punyah Dance Festival. It is a special feeling to see dancers of all ages and backgrounds connect with the music and express themselves so freely.
About this collection
Whether you are looking to book a recital or join a workshop, my approach is grounded in the Punyah and Upadhye style. Expect discipline, rigorous technique, and a strong focus on Abhinaya. My sessions go beyond just steps, as they are about understanding the mechanics and the story behind every movement.
Dance is a journey that I share through two main channels: the stage and the studio.
Performing Art
My performances are a blend of the precision of Nritta and the emotional depth of Abhinaya. I perform both solo and with my group, always accompanied by live musicians. Whether it is a traditional Varnam or an experimental piece, the focus remains on honest storytelling.
Learning at Antarshaala
My training program, Antarshaala, is based at the Upadhye School of Dance in Bangalore. We follow a specific methodology that combines in-person weekly sessions with digital Swadhyaya access. This flipped-classroom model ensures that when we meet in the studio, we are focusing on posture correction and refining technique rather than just learning choreography from scratch.
Dance Intensives
For dancers who cannot join the regular program, I conduct weekend intensives across different cities in India. These are high-intensity, 4 to 6-hour daily sessions designed for intermediate to advanced students who already have a foundation in Bharatanatyam. We dive deep into Nritta, body conditioning, and Nayika Bhavas.
My classes are open, but they are intensive. I expect commitment, as I am dedicated to helping every student find their own rhythm.
Adithya
I am Adithya. I spend my days switching between the discipline of a dance studio in Bangalore and the spontaneity of stages across the world. My dance is my life, and I am always looking for students who want to go deeper than just the surface of the art form.
