My Journey in Bharatanatyam and Beyond
Dance is not just about what happens on stage. It is a path of constant learning, whether in a studio in Bangalore, a concert hall in Canada, or during quiet moments in nature.
A humbling moment from last week, receiving an award. I am deeply grateful for the recognition and for the constant support from my gurus, collaborators, and the entire dance community. Aduthathu.
Dance is not just for the stage. Here, I am finding a moment of connection with the art form by the Elbow River in Calgary during my Canada tour, inspired by the beautiful fall colours.
About this collection
Every performance or award is just a milestone in a much longer process. I find that my best movements often emerge from moments of travel or quiet observation, rather than just the rigid discipline of the studio, and I try to bring that same authenticity into every class I teach.
Dance is a path of constant learning. When I share photos of a performance in Canada or a moment by a river, it is not just for the aesthetic. It is to show that my dance is inseparable from my life—the people I meet, the music I listen to, and the landscapes I traverse.
I believe in the 'Aduthathu' (what's next) philosophy. Whether I am receiving an award or teaching a basic Adavu, the focus remains on the connection. The collaborators I work with—the vocalists, mridangam players, and fellow artists—are essential to this process. They breathe life into the Talam and make the performance a dialogue rather than a monologue.
If you are looking to work with me or join a workshop, understand that I approach my art without drama. We focus on the Abhinaya and the technical nuances. My training programs, like those under the Punyah banner in Bangalore, are built on this same principle of rigorous, honest practice. I do not just teach steps; I teach the patience required to master them.
Adithya
I am a dancer based in Bangalore, constantly moving between studios, stages, and new cities. My work is an honest exploration of Bharatanatyam, rooted in classical discipline but shaped by everything I encounter along the way.
