The growth of my students is the truest reflection of my journey. Here are moments of their hard work, from debut Arangetrams to full-fledged dance productions in Bangalore and beyond.

Witnessing a student's Arangetram, their debut solo performance, is one of the most fulfilling experiences as a teacher. This is from Akshadha’s performance, a culmination of her dedicated training and hard work.

So proud of my student Navya Bhat premiering her piece 'KRISHNA'. Guiding a student as they develop their own choreographic voice is a truly special part of the teaching process.

My students Rheanna and Rochelle rehearsing for their debut Margam. Preparing for a full-length performance requires immense dedication, and it is a privilege to guide them on this path.

Vibha performing at the Punyah Theatre. It is wonderful to see students take the stage with such confidence and grace, supported by a talented live music ensemble.

My student Dhanya performing in Chennai. I encourage my students to perform on different platforms as it helps them grow as artists and share their work with a wider audience.

Our students from the Upadhye School of Dance performing at the prestigious Chidambaram Natyanjali festival. It is an honor for them to offer their dance at such a sacred venue.

A snippet of my students performing a jathi on stage. The synchronization and energy in a group performance are a testament to their collective practice and discipline.

About this collection

Stepping onto the stage is a big leap from the studio floor. Whether it is an Arangetram or an ensemble piece like 'Kaleidoscope,' we emphasize stagecraft, costume discipline, and managing live music—the things that don't always happen in daily practice. Seeing a student handle these nerves with grace is honestly the best part of my job.

While the studio is where we build our base, the stage is where that technique meets the audience. My teaching approach at the Upadhye School of Dance, through our Antarshaala program, is designed to prepare students for this exact transition.

We don't just teach the steps; we focus on the entire performance ecosystem. This means understanding how to interact with live musicians, how lighting impacts abhinaya, and how to maintain presence during long-duration productions. For younger students, this might be their debut Arangetram, a milestone that requires months of dedicated technical training in adavus and nritta precision. For others, it involves learning the rhythm and synchronization required for group pieces like 'Kaleidoscope' or complex productions such as 'Mitra: The Colours of Love'.

I believe that a student's confidence on stage comes from the hours spent in our NRI Layout studio perfecting their posture and understanding the talam. When you see a student perform at venues like the Chidambaram Natyanjali or ADA Rangamandira, it is the result of that 'flipped classroom' approach—where they come to class prepared, allowing us to spend our time polishing the art rather than just learning choreography. If you are looking to be part of a training program that takes stage readiness as seriously as technical foundation, I am happy to chat about what this path looks like.

I am Adithya, and for me, teaching is an extension of my own practice. I want my students to own their dance, whether it is a debut solo or a group production, and feel the same connection to the art that I do. Let's talk if you want to see how we build stage readiness from the ground up. 🙏🏼
