About Bharatanatyam Choreography
What Drives My Choreography
I’m a dancer before anything else. For me, choreography isn’t just steps and counts – it’s about telling a story that feels personal. Like I always say, Panchanga nodi bandira... adre... chennagi nodi bandira? (Did you check the almanac... but did you really look closely?). I want you to see the art, not just the outline.
My Process
Everything starts with a strong base in Bharatanatyam – rhythm (talam) and expression (abhinaya) are the core. Whether we’re building something totally new, or giving a twist to a classic, I care about both precise technique and a fresh vibe. I like to dig deep, not just repeat what’s been done.
What I Offer
- Full-scale productions: From mythological stories like Mitra to literary pieces like Nagamandala, I work with you from idea to stage. This includes conceptualising, group choreography, and shaping the whole stage feel – music, lighting, everything.
- Solo and group performances: If you’re prepping for arangetram or want a traditional Margam choreography, I got you. I help soloists or small groups build their custom Bharatanatyam repertoire for events or festivals.
- Group ideas: For student groups, I create items like Jathis, Krithis, or even solo Bharatanatyam narrative pieces.
The Teamwork Bit
I never do this alone. Working with a live orchestra – singers, mridangam, violin, flute – makes the dance come alive. These annas and jis are my backbone. We make sure the dance and music are genuinely in sync.
Where I Work
I’m based in Bangalore at Punyah Dance Company and Upadhye School of Dance, but I travel for workshops and productions – India, USA, Europe, wherever the art calls.
Aduthathu (next)... we see where this journey goes.

My Story
Hey, I’m Adithya, dancer and wanderer from Bangalore. My life swings between rehearsals, random travels and mad food hunts. One day I’m sweating it out in a studio, next I’m lost in a European city or chilling with a Tibetan Mastiff in Italy. All this – the places, the art, the animals – somehow sneaks into my dance. Keeps things real, keeps me on my toes, literally and otherwise.
My Work
Bharatanatyam Performances, Workshops & Choreography - I do solo and group recitals, run intensive Bharatanatyam workshops, and choreograph dance productions for all kinds of events.
My Artistic Approach - My dance is honest. No drama, just good abhinaya, whether it’s a Kamas varnam or something more experimental.
Teaching Style - Through Punyah Dance Company and workshops, I go deep into details, movement, and building a strong dance base.
The Power of Collaboration - I love working with musicians—vocalists, mridangam, flute—makes every show come alive in its own way.
