Shatkarmas are traditional yogic cleansing techniques designed to purify the body and prepare the system for pranayama. I guide students through Jal Neti and Sutra Neti to clear nasal passages and improve respiratory health.

About The Path of Purification: Shatkarma

When learning Neti, the primary challenge is often mental hesitation rather than the technique itself. In our sessions, we focus on getting the water temperature and posture exactly right, ensuring you feel comfortable and in control before we move to more advanced practices like Sutra Neti.

Shatkarma, or the six cleansing techniques, is the foundation for a healthy yogic life. While many focus solely on asanas, I believe we must first prepare the body by clearing out physical toxins.

Why Practice Shatkarma?

The primary goal is purification. Practices like Jal Neti help clear the nasal passages, which is invaluable if you suffer from seasonal allergies, persistent colds, or general congestion. By maintaining clean airways, you improve your breathing capacity, which directly supports your pranayama and meditation practice. It is not just about cleaning the nose; it is about learning to listen to your body.

How We Practice

I guide you through these techniques with an emphasis on safety and comfort:

  • Jal Neti: Using a Neti pot to rinse the nasal passages with lukewarm saline water. This helps balance mucus levels and soothe the sinuses.
  • Sutra Neti: A slightly more advanced technique using a soft thread to gently clear obstructions. This requires focus and proper instruction, which I provide step-by-step.

A Guided Approach

These practices are not meant to be learned from a video alone. Misusing these tools can lead to discomfort. When you train with me at my Mayur Vihar studio or in a personal home session across Delhi NCR, I ensure you have the right technique, the correct saline balance, and the confidence to practice independently. We start slow. If you are new to this, we focus on Jal Neti first. Once you are comfortable, we introduce other cleansing practices. This is about building a sustainable, long-term habit that supports your swasthata, or total wellness.
