Glimpses from the Studio: A Look at Our Yoga Practice
Yoga is a journey of the self, through the self, to the self. Here is a look at the foundational asanas and breathwork we explore in my studio to build a stronger body and a calmer mind.
A class practicing Parvatasana in a seated position. This simple stretch helps to open the shoulders and lengthen the upper body, improving posture and releasing tension.
Participants engaging in a seated side bend. This movement is excellent for stretching the side body, improving spinal flexibility, and stimulating the abdominal organs.

About Glimpses from the Studio
In my studio, we do not just hold poses, we focus on the breath that anchors them. Whether we are practicing Parvatasana to open tight shoulders or engaging the core for stability, the goal is always to improve your awareness. You do not need to be flexible to start these movements, you only need to show up.
My studio practice is designed to be accessible for everyone, from beginners who have never touched their toes to those seeking deeper mental clarity. Many students come to me with stiffness from long hours at a desk, so we place a strong emphasis on functional mobility. We use movements like seated side bends to increase spinal flexibility and targeted core drills to protect your lower back, which is essential for posture.
Why the Focus on Basics?
I believe that perfection is not the goal; patience is. When you see us practicing Parvatasana or deep stretching, we are not performing for a camera. We are working on breath control, or pranayama, to calm the nervous system. By starting with these foundational asanas, you build the stamina required for more advanced practice.
What to Expect in a Session:
- Mindful Movement: We integrate breath with every stretch to detoxify the mind.
- Inclusive Environment: You will see people from all walks of life, dressed in everything from yoga gear to salwar-kameez, making progress at their own speed.
- Beyond the Mat: My sessions are a space for community, where we celebrate together, learn to manage stress, and eventually, find our own light (Atma Deepo Bhava).
If you are looking to start your wellness journey, I recommend beginning with just five minutes of consistent practice. It acts like a vardaan, a true boon for your daily energy levels.
