My Personal Sadhana: Asana Demonstrations and Guidance
Yoga is a journey of the soul. Here, I share glimpses of my daily practice and the foundational asanas that help me maintain balance, health, and inner peace.
As the Hatha Yoga Pradipika says, postures must be steady and comfortable. Here I am in Vasisthasana (Side Plank Pose), finding that balance of effort and ease.
A short flow sequence including Parsvakonasana (Side Angle Pose) and Camatkarasana (Wild Thing Pose), demonstrating spinal mobility and strength.
A demonstration of the Trikonasana (Triangle Pose) flow, emphasizing that yoga is a meditation in motion, a way to unite with the divine.
A montage of my personal practice, from asana to meditation, reflecting the journey towards realizing the inner self, the 'Shivoham' state.
The practice of asanas should bring a feeling of joy and flexibility, helping to dissolve the complexities and unhappiness of the mind.
A demonstration of Pavanmuktasana (Wind-Relieving Pose), a simple but effective pose for digestive health and releasing lower back tension.
An inverted aerial pose. For me, yoga is devotion, and each asana is an offering.
Another view of the same inverted pose, showing the stability and openness achieved through practice.
A demonstration of a yoga routine specifically designed to help with varicose veins, using poses like Supta Virasana and Halasana variations.
Using the yoga wheel to explore deep backbends and forward folds, a great tool for enhancing spinal flexibility.
About My Personal Sadhana: Asana Demonstrations
When I demonstrate these asanas, the goal isn't just to show flexibility. As the Hatha Yoga Pradipika teaches, the posture must be Sthira (steady) and Sukham (comfortable). My focus is on helping you understand how to align your breath, ensuring your practice becomes a meditation rather than just physical exertion.
True yoga is not about how deep you can bend or stretch, but about how effectively you can restrain the fluctuations of the mind. In my daily sadhana at the Sivapta centre in Noida, I practice with a focus on alignment and breathwork to ensure that every movement serves as a bridge to a higher state of consciousness.
Why Alignment Matters
Whether you are performing Pavanmuktasana to release digestive tension or utilizing a yoga wheel for spinal flexibility, the methodology remains the same: safety and awareness. Many students come to me with injuries from forcing poses they are not ready for. I teach you how to use props—like blocks, straps, and wall ropes—to modify postures for your unique body type. This is the essence of therapeutic yoga: adapting the practice to the person, not the person to the practice.
Integrating Body and Mind
My practice includes Sukshma Vyayama (joint loosening) and core-strengthening flows that go beyond surface-level fitness. When we focus on the root of the illness—be it chronic back pain, stiff shoulders, or a distracted mind—we allow the body to heal itself.
