Aerial and Mat Yoga for Strength and Mobility
Yoga is my anchor. Whether it's finding stillness on the mat or decompressing the spine in the aerial silks, this is where we build a body that’s strong for life. Join me for a practice that prioritizes movement over perfection.
Aerial yoga is where strength meets grace. In this flow, I use the silk to decompress the spine and build upper body and core strength in a way that feels like flying. It’s a process of growth, learning to trust your body and the apparatus to create beautiful, fluid movements.
My mat is my sanctuary. Through poses like the warrior and inversions like the headstand, I find stillness and strength. This practice is a moving meditation, a way to quiet the noise of the world and reconnect with myself, finding freedom even when hanging upside down.
Some days are harder than others, especially as we navigate our 40s. This yoga practice shows a moment of accepting my body's changing energy levels. The goal isn't a perfect headstand every time; the real victory is showing up on the mat, moving with intention, and being kind to yourself through the process.
About Aerial & Mat Yoga: Find Your Flow
Here’s the thing about our classes: you don’t need to be flexible to start. I see so many women hold back because they think they can't do a split or a handstand. Forget that. In our sessions, whether on the mat or in the aerial silks, we focus on where your body is today. If your back hurts or you're feeling stiff, we adjust the flow. We're here to decompress the spine and build real strength, not to perform.
My yoga practice at Sweatnstretch is built on two pillars: the stability of the mat and the freedom of the air. We mix Ashtanga and Vinyasa roots to build foundational strength, then use aerial hammocks to decompress the spine and open up tight shoulders—something every woman over 40 needs.
Why Aerial Yoga?
It’s not just for show or circus tricks. It’s for gravity-assisted release. If you carry daily tension in your neck, lower back, or hips, the silks will change how you feel in an hour. We use the apparatus to hang, stretch, and breathe space into compressed joints.
Why Mat Practice?
This is where we earn our discipline. We work on weight-bearing poses to keep bones strong and minds clear. It's not about how deep you go into a pose; it’s about how much intention you bring to it. On days when my own energy is low, this is what keeps me grounded.
The Model Town Studio
We keep classes small, capped at 10 women. You get actual form correction, not just a teacher shouting instructions from the front of a crowded room. This is a space where we leave the ego outside. You don't need to fit into a 'yoga body' mold here; you just need to be willing to show up.
If you're dealing with stiffness or just need a space to reset your mood, come try a session. We'll find a flow that works for you, and we'll have a good time doing it.
