Aerial Silks: Fundamental Climbs, Wraps, and Drops
Discover your own wings with aerial arts. We teach silks from the ground up, focusing on core strength and real mobility, right here in Model Town.
This is a perfect example of the artistry of aerial silks, showcasing a standing split while wrapped in the fabric. We focus on proper technique to create beautiful lines and poses that highlight both strength and flexibility.
Even during the holidays, the practice continues. This festive flow on the red silks includes a vertical split, demonstrating the strength and control required to hold poses high off the ground.
My passion for aerial is like the color red, full of love and energy. This sequence on the silks is a valentine to my practice, showing how you can flow, invert, and express yourself with the fabric.
This angel drop from 20 feet is an advanced silks technique that requires complete trust in your training. We work on drops only after building a strong foundation in climbs, locks, and safety protocols.
About Aerial Silks: Climbs, Wraps & Drops
The first time you grip the fabric, your arms might feel like jelly—that's completely normal. In our Model Town studio, we do not jump into 20ft drops immediately. We start with the absolute basics: conditioning, grip strength, and learning to trust the fabric with your own body weight. It is a progressive journey, not a sprint, and we ensure you have the foundation before we move to sequences.
Aerial silks is not just a workout; it is a way to build strength that you actually feel 'andar se' (from within). Many students come to me thinking they need to be super-fit to start, but that is simply not true. My journey started with shivering arms and a stubborn mind, so I promise you, everyone has to start somewhere.
How We Train
Our classes focus on three pillars:
- Conditioning: Before we ever go high, we build upper body and grip strength. You will learn to climb, wrap, and lock safely.
- Technique: We break down complex movements into small, manageable chunks. Whether it is the 'Cocoon' or a basic inversion, we guide your posture to keep your joints safe.
- Flow: Once the foundation is solid, we connect moves into beautiful, dance-like sequences.
Safety First
This is not something you should practice without supervision. We use professional-grade nylon tricot fabrics and secure rigging points capable of holding the weight safely. Beneath our rigging, we use 4-6 inch thick crash mats. My classes are limited to 4-8 participants because I believe in hands-on spotting—I need to be there to correct your form and ensure you are safe while you are upside down.
If you are worried about your age or current fitness level, please don't be. I have taught women in their 40s and kids alike. The only thing you need is the willingness to show up consistently. You don't need a flat stomach or perfect flexibility to start; you just need to start.
