Yoga Classes for Kids and Pregnancy
Yoga changes as you do. Whether it is playful aerial sessions for growing children or gentle, supportive practices for pregnancy and post-natal recovery, I tailor every movement to your current phase of life.
An acupressure awareness activity during our Kids Summer Camp. I believe in making learning fun, so here we are drawing the body's organs on our hands to understand their corresponding pressure points.
A beautiful birthday celebration at the studio. Sunitha chose to share the gift of wellness with her friends, turning her special day into an occasion for rejuvenation and connection.
Celebrating a birthday with a healthy, satvick cake after a yoga session. It is wonderful to see my students build a community centered around holistic well being.
A group of friends celebrating a birthday with a shared yoga practice. This is what community is about: supporting each other's journey towards health and happiness.
A partner yoga technique for hamstring extension, demonstrated during a teacher training class. The assisting student uses their body weight to help their partner achieve a deeper, safe forward bend against the wall.
A demonstration of how to use a partner's weight to deepen a forward bend. It is crucial that the assisting partner applies pressure mindfully to stretch the hamstrings without causing strain.
A glimpse from our kids' summer camp. We use rope yoga and aerial silks to make yoga playful and exciting, helping children build strength, confidence, and joy in movement.
About Yoga for Life's Stages
For our younger students, we focus on spinal health and mobility through fun, prop-assisted aerial poses. For expecting mothers, the approach shifts entirely toward pelvic floor stability and breath regulation to prepare the body for labor. Safety is non-negotiable here, as no two students are ever given the exact same sequence because their physiological needs differ completely.
Supporting Your Body at Every Phase
Yoga is not a static practice. What a child needs for developmental alignment is fundamentally different from the restorative care required during pregnancy or post-partum recovery. At my studio in Chamrajpet, I use specific props like aerial silks and wall ropes to adapt these ancient techniques for different bodies.
Kids’ Aerial and Prop Yoga
Children today spend hours hunched over screens. Our kids' sessions are not just play, they use aerial silks and hanging ropes to correct posture and build core strength. We introduce basic anatomy and breathing patterns early, making discipline (anushasan) a habit rather than a chore. It helps with focus, flexibility, and building confidence through controlled inversion.
Pregnancy and Post-Natal Care
Pregnancy yoga is about preparation and comfort. We focus on:
- Pelvic Floor Health: Essential for labor preparation and post-partum recovery.
- Breathwork (Pranayama): Techniques to manage anxiety and improve oxygen flow to the fetus.
- Back Support: Using bolsters and wall ropes to relieve the extra load on the lumbar spine.
After delivery, our priority is re-stabilizing the abdominal muscles and healing the connective tissue, always ensuring we never rush the recovery process.
Why Discipline Matters
Regardless of age, we follow the same core principle: discipline. Whether a child is learning the basics of their nervous system or a mother is working on her core, we track progress through consistent, mindful repetition. It is about understanding the mechanics of your own body.
