Sharan Yoga: Moments of Practice and Connection
A glimpse into the quiet discipline of self-practice, the energy of our shala, and the meaningful connections formed on the mat.
A shot of my brand logo, representing the flow and grace of the practice.
My students inspire me every day with their dedication and strength.
The primary goal of asana is not just strength or stretch, but to charge the body with energy. Here, I'm explaining the concept of 'tense and relax' to gain energy in each pose.
Asana is the first step to becoming aware of the breath and energy flow. The goal is to hold the body still and conserve energy to relax the mind.
A moment of discipline during my personal practice in Goa.
Explaining the importance of bandhas (energy locks). Without breath, bandha, and drishti (gaze), you are just stretching. Yoga is about creating and containing energy.
Teaching the practice of Kriyas, like Nauli. These cleansing techniques are foremost in Hatha Yoga for building immunity and ensuring good gut health.
A cool teacher moment, captured by a photographer during a class.
This 'job' of teaching is an expression of love. I give my energy to each student I share this practice with.
About Additional Work
You might notice that many of these moments are not about reaching a perfect pose. In my sessions, we focus heavily on bandhas—those internal energy locks—to ensure you are actually charging your body with energy rather than just performing a stretch. This distinction is the core of everything I teach at the shala.
Photography in a yoga space is rare, but these moments capture the essential shift from working out to working in. Whether it is a small adjustment during an inversion workshop or a quiet practice in Goa, these images reflect my belief that yoga is about the internal state rather than external performance.
Why the approach matters
Many students come to me having practiced elsewhere but feeling stiff or ungrounded. This often happens when the focus is purely on flexibility. My teaching methodology, particularly in the Panchsheel Park home shala, emphasizes:
- Breath and Energy: We prioritize the breath as the primary vehicle for movement. If you are not using your exhalation to move, you are not practicing yoga.
- Anatomical Alignment: Using props like yoga wheels and bolsters, we break down complex asanas to make them accessible and safe for everyone, regardless of your current experience level.
- Gut Health and Kriyas: Beyond asana, I introduce cleansing techniques like Nauli to help with digestion and immunity, which is often neglected in standard studio classes.
Joining our community
My goal is to create a space where you feel seen. Because I cap my sessions at 12 students, I can provide the hands-on adjustments necessary to help you understand your own body's limits and potential. Whether you are looking for a technical deep-dive into backbends or a holistic weekend intensive, the focus remains on personal growth and nervous system regulation. If you are curious about what happens when you stop chasing perfection and start focusing on energy, I invite you to join one of our upcoming batches.
SharanYoga
I didn't plan on teaching. Yoga was just my own tool for balance after years of corporate work, until I stumbled into sharing it. Now, my sessions are an honest extension of my own practice, designed to help you find that same steady calm.
