Yoga with Props and Alignment Training
Yoga is not just about flexibility; it is about building strength with precision. I use props like wall ropes, bamboo sticks, and weights to help you reach deeper into postures, correct your alignment, and feel the results of every movement.
To master poses like the Wheel Pose, you need strong wrists. By adding dumbbells to our practice, we build the necessary strength in the arms, shoulders, and triceps, creating a perfect balance of power and flexibility.
A simple stick can be a powerful tool for alignment and deepening stretches. Here, I am instructing my students on proper form, ensuring their spine is straight and they are engaging the right muscles. Reehd seedhi rakhni hai.
Can't do the Crane Pose? I teach simple hacks to help you get there. Using yoga bricks under your feet or head can help you build the balance and confidence needed to lift into the full arm balance.
The wall is an excellent prop for building strength and confidence. Here, my students practice with the wall to master the standing Chakrasana before they attempt it without support, showing beautiful progress.
The wall is not a boundary; it is a tool. I use it to help students with alignment, arm strengthening exercises, and even to practice half handstands safely, making advanced postures more accessible.
A yoga belt is a fantastic prop for deepening your stretches. It helps you reach further and hold postures correctly, especially for tight hamstrings and shoulders, allowing for a more effective practice.
Bamboo Yoga brings a unique flow and energy to the practice. Using the bamboo stick helps with balance, alignment, and adds a dynamic element to our strength and flexibility training.
About this collection
People often assume props are a crutch, but in my Rohini studio, they are the key to unlocking real progress. When we use wall ropes, for instance, we aren't just holding on; we are using traction to create space in the spine, allowing you to access inversions and deep stretches that would be impossible or unsafe without that support.
Props turn the mat into a laboratory for your body. If you want to tone your arms or lose belly fat, we use light dumbbells and rhythmic movements. If back pain is the issue, we use bamboo sticks for alignment and wall ropes for spinal decompression. This is not about looking perfect in a pose; it is about Yogah karmasu kaushalam—skill in action.
We focus on:
- Wall Rope Yoga: Excellent for cervical issues and frozen shoulders. It allows you to hang, stretch, and decompress the spine safely.
- Weight Training: We incorporate light dumbbells into our Hatha and Vinyasa flows. This builds lean muscle and burns fat faster than standard stretching.
- Bamboo Sticks: These are essential for correcting posture. They ensure your spine remains straight and your chest stays open, preventing common injuries.
Whether you are attending our online sessions or visiting the Prashant Vihar studio, the goal is the same. We use these tools to build balance, strength, and confidence, regardless of your starting point. It is not about how flexible you are, but how smart you are with your practice.
Jas Pal
I am Jas Pal, and I keep my practice in Prashant Vihar simple: no fluff, just real results. I use props not to make yoga easier, but to make it more effective, helping you build strength and alignment that lasts long after you leave the mat.
