Aerial Yoga Inversions and Flows in Whitefield
Yoga feels different when you’re suspended. I use the hammock to help you explore inversions, build deep core stability, and find a playful sense of freedom, regardless of your experience level.
Experience the joy of an inverted split, fully supported by the aerial hammock. This pose not only feels incredible but also helps to decompress the spine and improve hip flexibility. I guide you through each step to ensure you feel secure as you fly.
This sequence showcases how the hammock can transform a difficult pose like a handstand into an achievable core workout. By securing the feet in the silk, we can focus on form and build strength with exercises like inverted crunches, targeting the entire abdominal wall.
The flying split is a dynamic core exercise that challenges your stability. With one foot in the hammock, I demonstrate how to pull the knee to the chest, engaging the obliques and lower abs while maintaining a strong plank position with the upper body.
About Aerial Yoga: Inversions & Flows
You do not need to be a gymnast to start. My aerial classes focus on using the hammock as a partner to support your weight, which makes inversions safe and accessible. We spend our sessions mastering foundational moves like the flying split, building the strength to eventually move into supported handstands with confidence.
Why Aerial Yoga?
Aerial yoga isn't just about the photos of you hanging upside down. It is a powerful tool for spinal decompression and deep core conditioning. By taking the weight off your joints, the silk hammock allows you to hold poses longer and stretch deeper than you ever could on a mat. It creates a space where you can trust the fabric to hold you, allowing your body to release tension you might be holding onto subconsciously.
What To Expect In Class
Every 60-minute session is planned to help you flow smoothly. We start with 10 minutes of floor warm-ups and gripping techniques to ensure your safety before we lift off. During the session, I provide hands-on spotting to guide your hips and legs, so you never feel unstable while moving into peak poses.
We focus on:
- Aerial Abs: Targeted core engagement while suspended.
- Inversion Training: Safely flipping and holding poses like the flying split.
- Floating Savasana: A final 10-minute relaxation where the hammock cocoons you for total stillness.
Safety and Equipment
My studio in Whitefield is equipped with professional-grade, load-tested rigging and sanitized, low-stretch Nylon Tricot silk fabrics. Whether we are working on strengthening obliques or simply letting gravity do the work to release lower back tension, you are always in a secure environment. If you have never tried it, don't worry about being 'good' at it. Just come ready to breathe and let the fabric hold you.
