Asana and Alignment: The Foundation of Authentic Yoga
Build a teaching practice rooted in safety, mindfulness, and the traditional principles of Hatha and Vinyasa.
In Virabhadrasana I (Warrior I Pose), the goal is not just the shape but the feeling of strength and stability. I guide students to lift their hearts and ground through their feet, finding the balance between effort and ease. This is how we build a strong, intelligent practice.

Here, a student explores a variation of Chakrasana (Wheel Pose), opening the heart and strengthening the entire body. We encourage you to listen to your body and explore your limits with curiosity, not force. Every practice is a step toward self-discovery.

Understanding anatomy is key to teaching yoga safely. Using a model of the spine, I explain the mechanics of movement, helping you see the body in a new way. This knowledge empowers you to create sequences that are both effective and healing.
A class moves in unison, breathing and flowing together in a dynamic Vinyasa sequence. The collective energy of the group supports each individual, creating a powerful and meditative experience. You will learn to lead classes with this same sense of unity and flow.

About Asana & Alignment: The Physical Practice
Here, alignment is not about forcing your body into a perfect shape, but understanding how to move safely within your own limits. We teach you to use props like straps and wall-work to make postures accessible, focusing on anatomy and modification rather than rigid aesthetics. You will learn to observe students, provide compassionate hands-on adjustments, and guide others with the clarity that comes from understanding your own practice.
Our approach to physical practice blends traditional Hatha techniques with dynamic Vinyasa sequences, all while keeping the ancient purpose of yoga front and center. You are not just learning to perform poses; you are learning the mechanics behind every movement. We emphasize skeletal structure and muscular engagement, ensuring that you can teach students of all levels without risk of injury.
During your time in our Ramanagar ashram, you will dive into:
- Functional Alignment: Moving beyond aesthetics to understand the mechanics of the spine and joints.
- Prop Utilization: Learning how to use straps, blocks, and walls as tools for inclusivity, not crutches.
- Hands-on Assists: Developing the sensitivity to adjust a student's posture with care and precision.
- Modification Strategies: How to adapt sequences for specific needs, injuries, or beginner limitations.
Yoga is a work-in, and our physical practice reflects that. By the time you complete your training, you will have a deep, lived understanding of the body and the confidence to hold space for others. Whether you are preparing for our 200-hour or 300-hour certification, this training ensures you teach from a place of authenticity rather than performance.
