About this collection
I fry every batch using fresh sunflower oil rather than bulk-processed alternatives. Because I don't use chemical preservatives to stabilize shelf life, I prepare these in small quantities to ensure they reach you with the same crisp, clean snap they have when they leave my kadhai.
Making good murukku is about patience and the right ratios. I work primarily with traditional rice flour and urad dal bases, carefully balancing the moisture before the dough hits the press. When you order from Shanti's Kitchen, you aren't getting mass-manufactured snacks that have been sitting in a warehouse.
My signature varieties cater to different cravings:
- Original Murukku: Simple, classic, and focused on the authentic taste of high-quality rice flour.
- Garlic Murukku: I use a fresh garlic paste that infuses the dough, providing a savory depth that pairs perfectly with coffee.
- Ribbon Murukku: These flat, crispy ribbons are seasoned with red chillies and hinge, making them a staple for movie nights or casual gatherings.
- Ompudi: A finer sev-style murukku where I highlight the aromatic kick of ajwain, which is excellent for digestion and adds a distinct earthy flavor.
Everything is packed in airtight pouches to preserve the crunch. Since I am based in Bangalore, I make sure the delivery logistics are handled carefully to ensure your order arrives intact, whether you are across town or shipping these as a taste of home to a different city in India. I avoid artificial colors and flavor enhancers, relying entirely on natural spices and quality oils to achieve that golden, appetizing finish.
