Partner and Acro Yoga for Strength and Connection
Yoga is about connection, trust, and a little bit of play. This collection is a glimpse into how we build strength together, support each other, and find our kind of crazy through partner and acro yoga.
A moment of fun and connection at the Sivananda Ashram. Here, we are practicing a partner pose, combining a forward fold with an arm balance to build trust and strength.
Find humans who love what you love. Here I am practicing a synchronized flow with a friend, moving together and glowing together.
Finding my kind of crazy. A playful session of acro yoga and synchronized arm balances with a friend, exploring shapes and having fun.
Chilling at the park with my sister. This is a partner-assisted drop-back into Chakrasana, a great way to build trust and support each other's practice.
A fun take on a trend with a fellow yogi. We are playing with different acro yoga poses, from folded leaf to throne, and challenging each other.
About this collection
If you think acro yoga requires being a gymnast, I want to change your mind. It is actually about communication and trust. We start with simple, grounding counterbalances and assisted stretches before moving into any lifts. You do not need to be super strong to begin, just someone willing to support your partner and laugh when things get a little wobbly.
Building Trust Through Movement
Partner yoga is not just about the final shape you make. It is a process of learning to listen to another person's body and matching your breath to theirs. Whether it is a simple partner-assisted forward fold to deepen a stretch or a more dynamic acro yoga flow, the focus is always on staying present and steady.
Why Partner and Acro Yoga?
- Communication: You learn to express what you need and listen to what your partner needs. It turns yoga from a solo practice into a shared experience.
- Safe Foundations: We always start with the basics. No one jumps into advanced inversions without establishing trust and stability on the ground first.
- Playful Fitness: It is surprisingly hard work, but because you are moving with a friend, it feels like play. This is a great way to build functional strength and balance while having fun.
Can Beginners Join?
Absolutely. You do not need to bring a partner with you. Many of my students come solo and find a community to practice with in the session. We work on progressive flows, meaning we learn how to fall safely, how to spot each other, and how to build up to complex poses like arm balances or therapeutic flying.
My classes in Sarjapur and across Bangalore are designed to be a space where you can experiment. If you are nervous, we start with supportive stretches. If you are ready for a challenge, we explore acro flows. The only rule is to honor your body and have fun with the process.
Saumya Mishra
I am Saumya. Yoga is my way of connecting, not just with my breath, but with the people around me. My partner and acro sessions are all about creating shapes, building strength, and finding that playful energy that only comes when you are moving in sync with someone else. Whether you are coming with a friend or want to meet new people, we focus on safe, steady progress.
