A Yogic Way of Life: Beyond the Mat
For me, yoga is a quiet process of building within. It is not just about postures but about how we nourish ourselves, give back, and maintain balance in a busy city.
Celebrating Navratri, a time of devotion and inner reflection. My sadhana during these nine days integrates practice, prayer, and preparing traditional foods like Sundal prasadam. It's a beautiful reminder of how spirituality weaves through every part of life.
Connecting with my yoga community on a trip to Mysore, the heart of Ashtanga yoga. These journeys are about deepening our practice, sharing simple joys like fresh coconut water, and strengthening the bonds of our sangha (community).
A moment of gratitude and service, sharing a meal with these wonderful children. The simple act of 'annadhanam' or offering food, reminds us to be thankful for what we receive and to share it with others. This is a core part of my yogic path.
About A Yogic Way of Life
You will often find that my approach to yoga is influenced by my background in architecture. Just as a building requires a solid foundation, your practice needs roots in tradition and consistency. Whether it is bringing mindfulness into your workspace or finding a steady rhythm in a chaotic week, I focus on integrating yoga into your daily life—not as a separate hour in your day, but as a lens through which you see everything.
My path has been shaped by the rigorous study of Ashtanga yoga and the wisdom passed down through the parampara (lineage). When I teach, I am not just instructing poses; I am sharing a way of living that I practice myself every single day. This is what we call sadhana—a daily commitment to movement, breath, and introspection.
Integrating Practice into Daily Life
Yoga happens off the mat as much as it does on it. It is in the way we prepare our food, the gratitude we practice before eating, and how we handle stress during a workday. Many of my students come to me looking for more than just physical exercise. They are looking for:
- Mindful Discipline: Using asana to clear friction and find truth inside.
- Holistic Wellness: Aligning body and mind through Satvic eating and habits.
- Community Connection: Understanding that we are all part of a larger sangha (community).
Why This Approach Matters
In a city like Bengaluru, we are constantly bombarded by external demands. My classes, whether they are traditional Mysore-style sessions at my shala or corporate wellness workshops, are designed to pull you back to center. We do not chase perfection. We focus on the process of growing, falling, and rising again. If you are ready to explore yoga as a comprehensive way of life—one that respects both the ancient tradition and the reality of your modern schedule—I am here to guide you.
