My Yoga Life: A Journey Beyond the Mat
Yoga isn't just about poses—it's how we live, breathe, and find balance. Join me behind the scenes to see how I integrate mindfulness into my real-life routines.
What you imagine a yoga teacher does versus the real-life chaos behind the mat. From fixing my hair mid-class to realigning my mat, this is a fun look at the relatable, imperfect moments that are all part of the practice.
This is my morning routine that sets a positive tone for the day. I start with prayer and gratitude, hydrate with warm water, and take time for journaling and a short self-practice before I begin teaching my classes. An early start helps me stay centered and focused.
It is perfectly normal for your body to make noises or need a break during a yoga class. In this video, I talk about five bodily urges you should not suppress, like sneezing or yawning. Yoga is about listening to your body with compassion and without embarrassment.
After some time away, I am so happy to be back and sharing fresh content with you all. This is a new beginning, and I am excited to continue this journey of wellness together, from yoga practices to mindfulness tips.
Here I am guiding a student through Trikonasana, or Triangle Pose, during a corporate wellness session. I focus on proper alignment to ensure you get the full benefits of each posture safely. These classes are a great way to build strength and flexibility.
A moment of calm as students practice Anulom Vilom, or alternate nostril breathing. This pranayama technique is a core part of my classes, helping to balance the mind, improve focus, and prepare the body for deeper practice.
Yoni Mudra offers profound benefits, especially for women's health. As shown here, it helps balance the body's energies, regulate hormonal imbalances, and improve reproductive health, all while preparing the mind for a stable and deep meditation.
This is a close-up of Yoni Mudra, a hand gesture that symbolizes the womb and invokes primal creative energy. Practicing this mudra helps to calm the mind and draw your awareness inward, making it a wonderful tool for meditation and relaxation.
About My Yoga Life
When you see a yoga teacher, it is easy to assume every morning starts with perfect meditation in total silence. In reality, my day begins with a mix of gratitude, a little chaos, and conscious planning—just like yours. I believe in honest practice over Instagram perfection, which is why I share these unfiltered moments to help you feel comfortable starting exactly where you are, imperfections and all.
Beyond the Mat: A Holistic Approach
I often tell my students, 'Apna shareer hi sabse bada guru hai' (your body is your best teacher). My path to yoga wasn't a straight line; I spent years as a chartered accountant before trading spreadsheets for yoga sequences. This background helps me understand the stress, back pain, and mental fatigue that come with modern, fast-paced jobs. I don't just teach poses; I teach a system to manage your day.
What You Will Find Here
My practice is rooted in traditional Hatha and Ashtanga, but my teaching style is adaptive. Whether you are looking for stress relief, improved flexibility, or hormonal balance, we move at your pace. I prioritize:
- Mindful Movement: Using breathwork to ground the nervous system.
- Practical Wisdom: Integrating concepts like Samatvam (balance) into daily life.
- Safety & Alignment: No pushing into painful postures. We use props to honor your body's limits.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is this suitable for beginners? Yes. I specialize in guiding beginners through foundational Hatha and Ashtanga flows. We start with basic alignment and breathwork, ensuring you feel confident on the mat from day one.
Do you offer personalized attention? I cap my group classes at 15 participants to ensure I can provide real-time corrections and individual guidance, whether we are practicing in a Bengaluru studio or online via Zoom.
What if I have limited time? Yoga is a practice, not a race. We focus on consistency. Even a 45-minute session with mindful intent can shift your entire day. My goal is to help you build a sustainable, life-long habit.
