Yoga is not just a physical pose. It is what you eat, the silence you keep, and how you live your day. Here is a peek into the simple habits that sustain my sadhana.

A simple, nourishing meal of rice, vegetables, and legumes served on a leaf plate at the Isha Yoga Center. Eating in this way, close to nature, makes you more sensitive to the food you consume and how it affects your system. It is a practice in mindfulness itself.

My day often starts with a simple breakfast of fresh fruits and soaked nuts. This kind of light, high energy food is ideal for a yogi, keeping the body alert and the mind clear without feeling heavy. It is a simple change that can make a big difference.

This photo was taken in 2016 during my first 8 day Hatha Yoga program. It was my introduction to Isha and the practice of Surya Kriya. This experience hooked me for life, giving me a tool and a path that has become the solution for everything.

I am happy to share that we have received the Sadhguru Sannidhi for our studio. This consecrates the space, creating a powerful sphere of grace for meditation and sadhana. We hold Sannidhi pujas regularly, and all are welcome to join and be in this presence.

The altar at my studio, with a picture of Sadhguru and the symbol of Aum. For me, being a teacher is an extension of being a volunteer. It is about offering a powerful tool with a sense of devotion and faith in the process.

A glimpse into our Vijaya Dasami celebrations at the studio. It was a beautiful evening filled with chanting, offerings, and the warmth of our community. These moments of devotion and celebration are an integral part of the spiritual journey.

About The Yogic Path: Beyond the Mat

True practice does not end when you leave the studio. It continues with how you nourish yourself. I start my mornings with soaked nuts and light fruits, keeping the system alert yet calm. A simple dietary shift often does more for your energy levels than hours of extra stretching.

For many, yoga begins and ends at the studio door. But a true yogic lifestyle is about what happens in the remaining 23 hours of your day. It is about the food that fuels your system, the nature you connect with, and the silence you allow yourself to inhabit.

In my own journey, I have realized that consistency is far more powerful than intensity. Whether I am teaching Surya Kriya in our Doddakallasandra studio or practicing on a quiet morning in the hills, the goal remains the same: to create a space of grace. My studio is consecrated—a space dedicated to focus and meditation, free from the usual distractions of commercial gym-based classes.

We do not just focus on the poses. We discuss how to maintain your sadhana while traveling, how to simplify your diet to stay alert, and how to use ancient techniques like Angamardana or Yoga Namaskar to align the body and mind. This path is not for the flexible; it is for those who are willing to show up, even when life feels jumbled.

If you are looking to start or restart your practice, come with an open mind. You do not need to be a seasoned practitioner. Whether it is our weekend group sessions, specialized correction workshops, or the monthly guided practice pass, there is a space here for you. We keep our batch sizes small, strictly 10 to 20 people, so that I can provide individual attention and real-time corrections. There is no pressure to perform here, just a commitment to your own inner process.

I am Ramya. My life is a jumble of things—math, coding, Bharatanatyam, and now, teaching Hatha Yoga. I do not see yoga as a workout, but as a way to turn inwards, and I am here to help you find that same stillness.
