Kathak Workshops and Immersive Dance Retreats

My workshops and retreats are spaces to explore Kathak and contemporary movement. Whether we are in a studio or on a retreat, it is all about finding freedom and connection in every step.

Announcing my 'Rangwang' dance retreat in Goa. These retreats are designed to help dancers find freedom in their movement in an inspiring setting.

Leading auditions and teaching choreography to a group of young, aspiring dancers. It's incredibly inspiring to work with the next generation of talent.

About this collection

My workshops and retreats are not about perfect technique; they are about finding 'Rangwang', that feeling of freedom in your own skin. In every session, whether it is a weekend workshop or a multi-day retreat, I balance technical Kathak foundations with intuitive movement. I keep group sizes small so I can actually work with you, not just stand at the front and count beats. You will leave feeling more connected to your body, not just tired from a workout.

Why Rangwang Retreats?

Dancing in a studio is one thing, but there is something transformative about moving in nature. My retreats—previously in places like Ladakh and now Goa—are curated to get you away from the daily grind. We spend 4 to 5 days blending movement, local culture, and downtime. It is an immersive experience where we do not just learn a routine; we explore what Kathak and contemporary styles mean to us personally.

The Classroom Atmosphere

Whether I am teaching in Mumbai or London, my classes are sweaty, shaky, safe spaces. I do not believe in the pressure of perfection. We start with technical Kathak footwork—the grounding, the rhythm—and then we break into fusion or contemporary flow. I want you to feel the music, not just reproduce it.

  • What to expect: Expect laughter, a few mistakes, and a deep dive into expression, also known as Abhinaya.
  • Who is this for: From beginners wanting to understand rhythm to trained dancers looking to unlearn and explore, everyone is welcome.
  • The Community: When you join a workshop, you join a community. I have seen friendships form in these classes that last years. We are here to support each other's growth, from the first step to the final performance.

I am Saloni, and for me, dance is simply connection. I spend my time split between Mumbai and London, teaching and performing, always trying to bring a little bit of that 'Ghar wali Diwali' warmth into every class I host.
