Contemporary & Fusion Dance Choreography
Dance is about freedom, not just steps. Whether it is a raw studio session or a high-energy fusion routine, I love blending Kathak roots with contemporary movement to tell a story.
An experimental flow session in the studio. This kind of improvisation and collaborative creation is a huge part of my artistic process.
A playful, contemporary duet filmed on the streets of Mumbai. I love taking dance out of the studio and into everyday spaces.
A short, energetic duet that captures the feeling of 'pal pal jeena' (living in each moment) through movement.
A fusion piece that mixes five different styles. This collaboration was about finding the joy in blending our different dance backgrounds.
A high-energy Bollywood fusion piece with a group of dancers in London. This choreography is all about fun, confidence, and celebrating together.
About this collection
When we work on fusion pieces, I do not start with steps. I start by breaking down the lyrics or the rhythm until the movement feels like an extension of your own body. We take traditional Kathak lines and break them open to fit a modern beat, so you are not just performing a routine, you are actually feeling the music.
Fusion is where I play. It is my laboratory. I believe the most interesting work happens at the intersection of where we come from and where we are going. My fusion work often takes a traditional Kathak foundation, the precision of footwork and the grace of the hands, and forces it to coexist with contemporary or street styles.
For my clients in Mumbai or London, the process is iterative. We look at the music, find the pulse, and then decide how much 'traditional' and how much 'modern' we need to balance. If you are a beginner, we focus on making the movement accessible but sharp. If you are a performer, we look for ways to challenge your stamina and expression.
Does it require prior Kathak training? Not at all. I have worked with dancers from diverse backgrounds, including hip-hop and commercial jazz. The goal is to create a language that works for the specific project, whether it is a music video requiring intricate frame-by-frame movement or a stage performance meant to command the room. Let us get into the studio and see what we can build.
