The Art of Detail: Materials & Craftsmanship in Modern Interiors
We believe a home is defined by what you touch and see. Our design approach focuses on the raw, honest texture of materials—from hand-chiseled stone to delicate brass inlay—to create spaces that feel inherently alive.
A video showcasing the material stories of the Dream Coffee Estate. It highlights the hand-laid terracotta roof tiles, lime-finished walls, and matte black pendant lights that come together to create a space rich in texture and warmth.
A glass-encased study that cantilevers over the garden. This 'room with a view' is a perfect example of how we create intimate spaces for contemplation that remain deeply connected to the nature outside.
The interior of the cantilevered study, featuring a custom-designed desk and a rich palette of wood and metal. The space is crafted to be a sanctuary for focus and inspiration, sheltered by the canopy of a large tree.
Sunlight filters through wooden blinds into the study, creating a calm and productive atmosphere. The design balances privacy with a strong visual connection to the lush garden just beyond the glass walls.

A glimpse from a site visit of a bathroom nearing completion. The space uses a pared-down, neutral palette with wood-grain textures and clean lines to create a serene and calming environment.
A detail of a minimalist bathroom niche, crafted from the same stone as the walls for a seamless look. This simple, elegant solution provides storage while maintaining the room's clean aesthetic.

About The Art of Detail: Materials & Craftsmanship
Consider our approach to transitions. Whether it is a subtle brass inlay in oak flooring or the precise joint where a lime-plastered wall meets a teak window frame, we treat these junctions not as standard construction points, but as opportunities to showcase craft. These details require patience—on-site supervision, constant dialogue with our carpenters, and a refusal to compromise on the precision of the fit.
Materiality as Philosophy
We do not view materials merely as building blocks, but as active participants in the life of a home. When we select laterite or cast-in-situ Terrazzo, we are considering how the space will age, how it will hold light, and how it will feel to the touch after years of use.
Our Approach to Craft
- Natural Stone and Texture: We often use large-format natural stone, such as Kota or Italian marble, not just for aesthetic appeal but for their thermal mass and durability. We prefer matte finishes that ground the space.
- The Woodworking Discipline: From fluted wardrobes to bespoke staircases, our woodwork is defined by rhythm. We work with teak and oak veneers, utilizing soft-close hardware from premium brands like Blum or Hafele to ensure that every functional object feels as deliberate as a piece of sculpture.
- Heritage and Modernity: We frequently integrate traditional techniques like lime-surkhi plastering with contemporary electrical and plumbing systems. This allows us to preserve the breathability and soul of older structures while providing the conveniences of modern living.
Why Details Matter
In an age of fast interiors, we choose the slow route. A custom-designed metal housing for a switchboard or a hand-finished wall niche may seem like a minor element, but these are the moments that distinguish a house from a home. We believe that when you strip away the unnecessary, what remains must be executed with absolute integrity.
