The Art of Detail in Interior Design
We build spaces where every texture has a purpose. From hand-printed fabrics to custom terrazzo, we focus on the small details that make a room feel like home.
The play of light and shadow is a key element in our designs. In Amber House, the afternoon sun streams through the vertical wooden railings, casting graphic patterns on the walls and floor, transforming the architectural structure into a living piece of art.
In Cocoon House, we designed the staircase to be more than just a functional element. The combination of white marble, a light wood handrail, and custom brass and wood balusters creates a sculptural feature, while a simple niche with a vase of flowers adds a moment of beauty.
Craftsmanship is at the heart of our work. This close-up from the Grid Pavilion restaurant shows the intricate joinery of the custom wooden ceiling grid, a detail that adds structural beauty and a sense of order to the dining space.
We believe in the beauty of simple forms and honest materials. This detail from the Grid Pavilion shows the gentle curve of a Jaisalmer stone base meeting a polished teak wood surface, a quiet moment of material harmony.
Texture plays a vital role in creating a cozy bedroom. In Amber House, we paired a soft, vertically channeled headboard in sage green with patterned cushions and a simple white nightstand, creating a composition that is both tactile and visually calming.
A close-up from the 'On The Grid' office reveals the thoughtful details we integrate. A custom wooden door handle, textured waffle glass, and a playful marble cutout of the USA on the shelf all contribute to the space's unique, travel-inspired narrative.
This detail from the Sanctum site office highlights the precise meeting of materials. The deep green of the planter box contrasts beautifully with the fluted texture and warm tones of the teak wood, showcasing our commitment to refined craftsmanship.
About this collection
When we approach the finer details of a project, we move beyond off-the-shelf solutions to consider how materials truly interact. We obsess over the transition between a polished teak surface and a rough stone base, or the way custom joinery can hide functionality while adding visual warmth. We sketch these details to ensure they survive daily use while retaining a sense of quiet elegance that mass-produced furniture simply cannot replicate.
Why Materials Matter
A room is not just an arrangement of furniture. It is a collection of surfaces, light, and tactile experiences. Whether we are using lime plaster for wall finishes or patterned terrazzo for flooring, we choose materials based on how they age and how they feel. We prefer natural stone like Kota and marble because they bring a grounded, earthy quality to a home that synthetic materials cannot match.
Our Approach to Craftsmanship
We do not just design plans; we participate in the making. Our process involves getting our hands dirty on-site, working with skilled craftsmen to ensure that a fluted wood partition or a custom light fixture is executed with precision. For instance, in our Sanctum site office project, we integrated ambient lighting directly into the wooden lattice structure of a desk, turning a functional object into a design statement.
Creating Meaningful Spaces
Every detail we add—a specific waffle glass pattern, a brass inlay, or a hand-tufted rug—is meant to connect with your personal history. We believe that your home should be filled with things that have meaning. By focusing on high-quality joinery and thoughtful material placement, we create environments that feel calm, lived-in, and uniquely yours. If you are looking for design that prioritizes long-term quality over fleeting trends, we would love to discuss how we can bring that level of detail to your next renovation.
Compartment S4
We are a group of eight friends who turned a shared obsession with sketching and texture into a collaborative design practice. We do not believe in standard catalogs, so we spend our days at site visits, working with carpenters and stone masons to get the joinery and finishes just right. For us, every texture in your home is an opportunity to slow down and create something lasting.
