Signature Marionette & Bunraku Theatre Show
Production & Talent
- The Troupe: Deployment of 3 professional puppeteers dressed in standard theatre blacks.
- Duration: 45 to 60 minutes of uninterrupted storytelling with live voice acting and percussion (Kajon).
- Story Choice: Selection of one signature story tailored to the age group (e.g., "Some Some Story" in Marionette style or "Popo" in Bunraku style).
Stage & Setup
- Portable Theatre: Full stage setup including black backdrop stands and masking curtains.
- Space Requirements: Requires a clear floor space of approx. 10ft (width) x 8ft (depth).
- Equipment: Includes all props, handcrafted wooden/cloth puppets, and focus lighting (dim room recommended).
Logistics
- Timing: Team arrives 60 minutes prior for assembly and requires 45 minutes post-show for dismantling.
- Travel: Includes transportation of troupe and delicate equipment within city limits.

Interactive Session (Post-Show)
- Extension: Additional 30-40 minutes immediately following the main show.
- Behind the Scenes: Artists "break the fourth wall" to explain how strings and rods function.
- Tactile Experience: Controlled opportunity for guests to touch the handmade puppets and attempt basic manipulation.
- Demo: Comparative demonstration of different styles (Glove vs Marionette vs Bunraku).

- Q&A: Open floor for the audience to ask artists about doll making and the art form.

Why We Do What We Do
With PuppeTree, puppetry is honestly about connection. I love watching kids and adults light up when our puppets come alive. Laughter, chaos, sometimes a tear or two - that’s what makes it all worth it. Every show is our way of sharing a little bit of magic, and it’s not just for children. What’s Special About Our Shows
We’ve got a couple of stories that really stick with people. 'Popo' is a Bunraku puppet art piece about an old thatha (grandfather) and his quiet, beautiful world. 'Some Some Story' is our marionette puppet’s big moment, showing how even a small boy’s life can become an adventure. Both are perfect if you’re looking for a puppet storytelling event that feels genuine.
Where We Perform
- Private parties, family celebrations, even the odd terrace gig - we bring the entire set-up.
- Schools love us for educational puppet theatre - kids get super involved.
- Community and NGO shows are close to our heart. Honestly, nothing beats the energy in those rooms.
What Happens Beyond the Stage
After most shows, we let everyone meet the puppets, poke around, and ask whatever they want. Our puppets range from traditional marionettes to socky fellows and everything in between, all handmade by us.

My Story
Hey, we’re PuppeTree from namma Bengaluru. Puppet theatre isn’t just our job, it’s our way to connect with people. Best moments? Performing for kids at St. John’s hospital – their smiles, unbeatable. We’ve teamed up with Snehadhara Foundation and Makkala Jagriti too, bringing puppets to children with special needs. Popo thatha’s story is close to our heart – it’s about finding joy, even when life’s tough. Sharing these stories with you, that’s what keeps us going.
