About Interactive Fun & Workshops
When we finish a performance, we never just pack up and leave. We invite the audience to step behind the curtain, handle the marionettes, and ask us how the Bunraku puppets work. It gives kids and adults a real look at the mechanics, making the performance feel much more personal than just watching from a distance.
Beyond the Performance
For us, the real joy happens when the show is over. Whether we are at a school in Bangalore or an art gallery, the most memorable moments are when we break the fourth wall. We guide you through how our handmade puppets, from simple sock characters to complex marionettes, are manipulated. It is not just a demo; it is a tactile experience where you can try your hand at the controls.
Workshop Structure
If you book our interactive workshop, we tailor the session to the group.
- Behind the Scenes: We explain how we build the puppets and perform. You get to see the rods, the strings, and the thought that goes into creating a character like our 'Popo' thatha.
- Hands-on Practice: We give everyone a chance to try manipulating the puppets themselves. It is messy, chaotic, and completely wonderful.
- Q&A: We open the floor for any questions, from how we record our original music to the challenges of performing with Bunraku-style figures.
Practical Details
- Space: We need a clear floor space of about 10ft by 8ft to set up our stage and workshop area.
- Setup: Our team arrives 60 minutes early to handle the staging, lighting, and sound, ensuring everything is ready before the first guest arrives.
- Travel: While we are based in Bangalore, our puppets love to travel. We are happy to pack up our stage and come to your venue anywhere in India.
This format works best for schools looking for educational theatre, private parties wanting an engaging activity, or anyone who wants to see the craft behind the magic.
PuppeTree
We are Team PuppeTree, and for us, puppetry is about genuine connection. We don't just put on a show; we love seeing the spark in a child's eyes when they realize they can bring a puppet to life themselves. Sharing these stories, whether in a school auditorium or a living room, is what drives us every single day.
