About Behind the Curtain: The Making Of
We arrive 60 minutes before your event to set up our full portable stage and lighting, requiring a clear 10ft by 8ft space. This preparation is when we ensure our acoustics, puppet mechanics, and stage lighting are perfect so that the performance flows seamlessly for your guests.
Every performance we bring to your stage is the result of weeks of preparation. Our puppets are handmade in our own workshop, where we experiment with different styles—from Bunraku figures to marionettes—to find the right personality for every character.
Music is the heartbeat of our storytelling. We collaborate with composers to create original scores that match the tempo of our narratives, ensuring the puppets move in perfect rhythm. Rehearsals are a serious affair for us. We spend countless hours focusing on lighting, movement, and the technical timing of each scene to make sure the story lands with the right emotional impact.
When we arrive at your venue, whether it is a school auditorium or a private terrace, we bring our own portable stage, black backdrop, and professional focus lighting. For special projects, we even use green screen technology, allowing us to merge traditional puppetry with creative visual effects. This technical dedication is what allows us to share stories like 'Popo' thatha or 'Some Some Story' with audiences across India, transforming any space into a place where connections are made.
